Internet Explorer 8: Over 2x “Fatter” than Firefox For example, on our Dell OptiPlex 745 (Core 2 Duo @ 2.66GHz) Vista/XP test bed with 2GB of RAM, IE 8 consumed just under 380MB of memory during a 10-site, multi-tab browsing scenario of popular general media, technical media and humor-related Web destinations. By contrast, IE 7 consumed just under 250MB rendering this same workload, while Firefox 3.01 put both IE versions to shame by completing the same browsing scenario in just 159MB of RAM. The story gets worse for IE 8 when you examine the number of threads spawned to complete the scenarios. Under Firefox, the count never exceed 29 concurrent threads. IE 7 spaw…

The Processor an…

The first DragonFire LAN will be held September 13-14, 2008 at the Days Inn Hotel!! Check the forums and news section for further updates. DFL, is a new LAN Party group. DFL will be promoting a friendly gaming environment for Erie area gamers. Our first event will be a small, starter event with enough room for at least 30-40 participants, plus staff. We hope to bring a nice balance between FPS, RTS, and some fun side games such as Guitar Hero. I, KevinKMJr, am the founder of this starter group. Other staff members include bRoThEr_sAlS, famine, LYNx, and IceKohl. Although we are starting small, we hope to expand over time. I do not want this to be a 'one and done' even…

My Taoist Tai Chi instructor did some very impressive Chi Kung healing last night in Toronto. This kid who was 29year old 5 years ago had something called Chromes disease... where the immune system attack your digestive system. The drugs the doctors put him on plus the sterioids made his bones colapse in his shoulders and hip joints. He was a 29 year old walking w/ a walker and crutches.... The doc's wanted to cut him up, add new hips (need to be replaced every 15 years or so) and keep him drugged up. So he continued to do Taoist Tai Chi instead and 5 years later his disease is nearly undetectable, he walks and runs pain free, and has a 2 year old son now. He works hard o…

Since I bought a 2nd ASUS 3870x2, I will be returning the 3870 that is in the mail to me. I paid a total cost of $140 for it (tax and shipping darn newegg) and I'm going to return it if nobody wants to buy it for around $115 or so. I'll have a 15% restocking fee I think returning it to them. I couldn't pass up the deal again on the 3870x2... I'm not sure what all is coming with it and I think it comes to me in the mail by about Wednesday next week. Let me know by Thursday the 21st or I'll just return it. Thanks Frag hard!

So, the weekend is over... I guess it's time to pool our thoughts together here. I spent most of my time playing as a Disciple of Khaine and I enjoyed every moment of it. This class is a mele healer hybrid that does some nice damage and has a long array of heals based on it's mele attacks. In WAR you can have 2 targets selected, an enemy and a friendly. How this works w/ the Disciple of Khaine is if I do mele damage to my enemy target, my friendly target gets heals and buffs off my attack. But this not only works for a single friendly target as there are plenty abilities where a Disciple of Khaine can heal everyone in the group w/ in 150 feet! That is a sick sick ran…

Just wanted to pop in and say "hey" Never been to a LAN Party before, but they came up in discussions the other day... figured, WTH, see if there's anything organized around the area... I play mostly on PC... Valve stuff for the most part TF2, CSS, DoD, etc... played CoD4 a bit, but I prefer TF2 over all others at the moment. My wife and I enjoy working through a lot of the BioWare stuff (BG/NWN on PC, Jade Empire & Mass Effect on Xbox). Oh, we think Lego Indiana Jones kicks arse too :party-drinkers1: It appears TF2 is a popular choice amongst the faithful here. Hope that continues to be the case... as I'd like to attend one of these days. Sept even…
