  1. Hey folks... been a while since I've been around the forums. Anyway, I've been interested in ArmA II since seeing the trailer a long while back, and the release is now just around the corner. (It goes live on Steam, tomorrow at 8pm) While the game looks uber-complicated, and I'm perfectly content with wasting most my time in COD4/5 at the moment, I figured what the hell - why not insert another brain drain? Any WNY gamers out there looking at ArmA II as well? Another club I'm in, OTC, has some interest growing. I'm likely to configure our server in the next couple weeks with an instance of ArmA, depending on the resource requirements versus all the other crap we already have running. For those who haven't seen anything on this game, the default world (the fictional land of Chernarus) is 250 sq. km. and supports 64-128+ players. With that and various AI components, it sounds like the dedicated server could be a hog... so who knows - might just have to find some other clan/guild/club who's running a solid server. Eitherway, if anyone else is going to be playing, maybe we could setup some co-op missions or whatnot. Cheers, KFC
  2. Hey folks. Was nice to meet a few of ya on saturday. Being my first LP, I wasn't sure what to expect. I was a bit surprised to see many people dinking around on YouTube, trying to snarf files, or whatever and not really gaming (except for those Xbox guys in the back who's eyes musta been bleeding at the end). The CoD4 gaming early on was the highlight (for me), but then poof... server dropped and fragging was pretty light the rest of the day. Not knowing how things worked at these LPs, I pretty much kept to myself. Next time, I'd probably be more active trying to recruit folks into a LAN game. I thought the setup for the TF2 tourney teams was fair. Luck of the draw is fine by me. It would have been nice to of had Voice enabled on the server though. No voice comm made it impossible to coordinate with team members. Thanks to Pursuit and everyone else involved in the setup. Hopefully I'll make it back to another. KFC
  3. I'm looking forward to the Netflix integration. Is that part of the Nov 19th update?
  4. Yeah, when I saw the top requests post, I figured I should brush up on CoD4. Only played it a few days several months ago, while addicted to TF2. Think I only got up to rank 9 or so that time. I'll be dying on 65.99.193.98:28960 Over 30 Club [HC/Mix], after reading to the little ones this evening - and tomorrow too I imagine... if anyone would like to stop in and kill me I also have Crysis... another casualty of TF2. Played down to the first encounter on the beach, never went any further. Will have to remember that disc for Saturday. Was contemplating grabbing UT3 too... its only $20 on Steam. Question: I see there will be beer for sale. Any fine single malts? Or is that a BYO type of thing (is that allowed)? [otc] KungFooChef
  5. Here's my stats... if its not obvious from them, I prefer Demoman. http://steamcommunity.com/id/kungfoochef/stats/TF2
  6. Just signed up. Turns out the wedding I thought we had that weekend is the week before - woot! I'm in for the TF2 tourny but don't have a team. If anyone's recruiting, I'm listening.

    GRID

Was a bit disappointed when I finally loaded Grid... right off the bat the MOMO wheel did not operate correctly -- the accelerator was ALWAYS floored (without me pressing the pedal) and if I pressed the brake, the car would then take off... but go straight right and into the wall. No reverse, no nothing. Then I found a calibration clearing util, and after that I could finally steer, but the accel was still floored. Looks like codemasters screwed up the defaul profile for the MOMO wheel, as I went to the "Custom" settings and when _I_ set the accellerator, it was the Z-axis, not the Y as they had it defined. Looking at their forums, it appears anyone with Logitech controllers is having fun getting them to work in Grid (even though they work great with all other games) Now the game is sweet! I suck at it so far, but its damn cool.
  8. LOL - They let you out of WoW to browse forums? I didn't think that was allowed. (last time I had KFC, I pretty much figured I'll never do that again. I like some chicken with my grease!) Though back in college, KFC's "3-piece and a beer" spring break special in mexico was excellent!!!
  9. I've never had much issue with TF2 comms. Of course, when not on the same team, all talk isn't usually enabled. Anyway, was cool between 9-10pm. Pursuit was around at that point. There were a bunch of other folks from some clan... I forget who they were... decent battles on the new maps. Then at a map change, everyone disappeared. Oh well.
  10. Sounds like we're going swimming this evening, so I might not be around until closer to 8:30 - 9. Hope to 'meet' some of you this eve. Later, KFC

    TF2 Tonight

Last night was a "Heavy-Fest" everywhere, as could be expected... I never play Heavy, so I took the opportunity to work on some of those Medic & Pyro achievements I'll keep an eye on the WNYG TF2 server this evening, and try to hop in around 8 - after reading to the kids. Cheers, KFC

    GRID

I saw someone mention Grid for the upcoming LAN. We've been thinking about grabbing a decent racer - and I've had this MOMO sitting here for a couple years idling. Couldn't find the demo anywhere, said "screw it" and just bought it. Should have finished downloading last night and I'm looking forward to putting the pedal to the metal (plastic) after work. (I was pleasantly surprised to see Logitech still has the momo as an active product and that there are Vista x64 drivers - woot!) Do you guys bring your wheels, etc to Lan Parties if planning to play <insert racer>?
  13. excellent! I've setup a "TF2sdays" with OTC, so now I'll have another set TF2 night :party-drinkers1: Regarding TF2, if you guys haven't seen yet, there'll be a big update this next tuesday (yeah, tuesdays are a bad scheduled game day because Steam always seems to release TF2 updates that day...) I checked out your LPE site, does look like a great setup. Looking forward to hitting one of those and will try to hit one of the house parties too. We'll see how the schedule works... I'll poke around a bit and see if I find anything on this, but do you have general guidelines posted about the parties? Rules, costs, food/beverage setup, etc?
  14. Just wanted to pop in and say "hey" Never been to a LAN Party before, but they came up in discussions the other day... figured, WTH, see if there's anything organized around the area... I play mostly on PC... Valve stuff for the most part TF2, CSS, DoD, etc... played CoD4 a bit, but I prefer TF2 over all others at the moment. My wife and I enjoy working through a lot of the BioWare stuff (BG/NWN on PC, Jade Empire & Mass Effect on Xbox). Oh, we think Lego Indiana Jones kicks arse too :party-drinkers1: It appears TF2 is a popular choice amongst the faithful here. Hope that continues to be the case... as I'd like to attend one of these days. Sept event is out, will be at VMworld... Oct might have a wedding to attend. But one of these days... Anyway, good to see there's an active community here and I'll keep checking in periodically. I'm normally on "Over 30 Club" [otc] servers (www.the-otc.com), but I see y'all have a server up... so maybe I'll run into some of you there. Do you guys have a normal night you try all be on at once? Cheers, KFC
