All existing benchmarks recorded by Windows 8 have been disqualified. This is due to a fault in Windows 8′s real-time clock (RTC), which all benchmarking tools use as a baseline." http://www.extremetech.com/computing/164209-windows-8-banned-by-worlds-top-benchmarking-and-overclocking-site "Windows 8′s RTC isn’t reliable. Upgrading but after spending a day looking at ideal components Ive given up on the grounds its just too darn expensive. So im looking to do a quite respectable rig in the $1000'ish range. Can be a little over. Honestly I could afford to do a big system but simply cant justify the expense. I wanted to try a small case / mini comp type build : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811112222 So been eyeballing microATX boards and the goodies to go with. After checking out Toms HW I looks like the i5 750 is the way to go. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-...i5,2410-14.html http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-g...cpu,2570-6.html …

I have know this for a couple years now. Ubuntu Faster Than Windows XP http://www.itworld.com/small-business/6087...rnet-windows-xp "My Ubuntu machine returned a rating from the Bandwidth.com test of 22-25mbps over several tests. That's darn fast today, faster than normal. Then I did the same test from a Windows XP PC and got results from 12-14mbps. Still fast, but not nearly as fast as the Ubuntu machine." Ubuntu Faster Than Windows XP Feedback http://www.itworld.com/small-business/6101...ows-xp-feedback "The fun really came from the few responders who read my post carefully, tested it themselves, and confirmed my quick and dirty test. Several Sl…

So, I've been running on some of PurSuiT's old gear for quite some time now (so-so 939 mobo with an Athalon X2 4400+, 2GB DDR400, 7950GT video), and I figured it's about time I upgrade. Now, I'm trying to keep the price around 500, since I really don't have much to spend. Here's what I've got for my new setup... Motherboard - ASUS M2R32-MVP CPU - Athalon 64 X2 4600+ Cooler - ZEROtherm BTF90 RAM - 4GB WINTEC AMPX (DDR2 800 Video - Radeon HD 3870 512MB GDDR3 Definitely not top-of-the-line gear, but it's better than what I've got right now, and it's got plenty of room for upgrades in the future...
