AMD aims supercomputer at mobile gaming "The AMD Fusion Render Cloud will transform movie and gaming experiences through server-side rendering - which stores visually rich content in a compute cloud, compresses it, and streams it in real-time over a wireless or broadband connection to a variety of devices such as smart phones, set-top boxes and ultra-thin notebooks." "The Fusion Render Cloud will use AMD gear including the Phenom II processors, AMD 790 chipsets, and ATI Radeon HD 4870 graphics processors. Hey guys I'd like to have a LAN at my place on either the Dec 27th (just after xmas) or Jan 3rd. Both are saturdays. Or if things are crazy maybe a pair of mini LAN's on those days. I just finished putting in my electrical for the "LAN area", and will have the network set here in a day or two. So I'd like to break it in and see how some LAN's fly. For any who's comp may be out of commission for whatever reason I do have 2 extra working comps that can be used on LAN days. Nothing fantastic but smooth enough for most of what we play. First call for dibs. If I get a few interested I'll set the dates and post relevant info. Let me know and happy holiday…

Not sure which forum to drop this in so will do it here: I havent shopped for switches in forever, but am debating a 12-24 port gigabit switch for the home network here. Any input on what to look for ? Whats some good priced models to look at ? Also on a price / performance comparison is it worth stringing a couple 8 gigabit switches vs. say a 16 or 24 ? Thanky.

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2008/12/23/ea...eam-worldwide/1 Spore will be the first game developed by an EA studio to launch on Valve's online platform, as the EA published Crysis and Crysis Warhead games were developed by external developer, CryTek. While early indications hinted that Spore might be coming to Steam, Valve has announced that Spore is just one of the EA titles to be featured on Steam. Electronic Arts will be releasing Spore, Mass Effect, Need for Speed Undercover and FIFA Manager 2009 on Steam very shortly, with more titles coming in the future. EA has already promised that the coming weeks will see the addition of Command and Conquer: Red …

The GeForce GTX 295 is coming, but with a bit less bang than NVIDIA had probably hoped for. It has a performance advantage in FarCry 2 but loses that performance advantage in Fallout 3, a game we know a lot of people are playing this holiday season. Albeit the GTX 295 does not suffer some of the graphical bugs that plague the 4870 X2 in Fallout 3 that give the true gaming advantage to the GTX 295. While it may not have won the performance crown in every game here today, it did manage to match the Radeon HD 4870 X2 for the highest playable in-game settings in each game we tested. NVIDIA has definitely made this a worthy competitor to the Radeon HD 4870 X2. But in n…
