If ATI won a round, would anyone notice? "Did I read those benchmarks right? Yes. This is Falcon’s fastest ATI Crossfire based system put up against our own fastest SLI based system that PC Magazine had reviewed less than two months earlier. The testing was done under Windows Vista 32-bit. And yes, our ATI based system destroyed the Nvidia based system."

ATTILA GPU Simulator This neat!!! "The Attila Project goal is to research and develop high performance microarchitectures for the next generation of GPUs. To this end, the team has started by exploring the performance of the current generation (R580, G70, G80) of rasterization-based GPUs. So far we've produced a full GPU (soft) stack: an OpenGL driver, an Attila driver, and a cycle-accurate simulator of the first incarnation of the Attila architecture. Additionally, the team has produced helper tools to capture open GL traces, play the captured traces and a WaveForm visualizer for the Attila simulator."

Tyan readies new mobos, quad-core ready PSC "One of Tyan's major showpieces at Computex was the S4980, a motherboard that manages to squeeze four 1207-pin Opteron sockets and 16 DIMM slots into an Extended ATX form factor. As one might imagine, Tyan did cut some corners (literally) to be able to fit four Opterons in an EATX mobo. The board is only outfitted with one expansion slot—PCI Express x16—and it has "only" six Serial ATA ports. The S4980 is largely aimed at cluster systems, Tyan says."

So I have been having issue with my Sound Blaster X-Fi card since day one, really funky issues. First I had issues installing the drivers, used the web drivers right off the bat and detected the card, reboot static. The static issue was in gaming mode on reboots all the time, came and went in other modes. but could switch modes and it went away sometimes. Next I rebooted one day after resetting my bois from a OC that was to aggressive and had to reset the bois. Rebooted and no sound, even though I set all bios setting back to where I had them. The sound icon was missing from the tray and and device manger showed the xfi card was installed still. So I removed all t…

PeakStream acquired by Google "GPGPU middleware developer PeakStream has been acquired by Google, according to The Register. Where this leaves the GPGPU development platform is unclear, although it has stopped selling the product for the moment." Well, if anyone was wondering if GPGPU (ex: doing big math on video cards) was gonna get a bigger following, the above should answer that question!!
