UTIII and Crysis sales bomb "Epic's Unreal Tournament III on PC has fared poorly in the US, selling just 33,995 units." "According to sales data released by research chaps NPD Group, Crytek's super-hyped shooter has shifted just under 87,000 units since its release on November 13." "Call of Duty 4 shifted a massive 1.57 million units on Xbox 360. Oddly enough we can't locate sales data for the PC version."

The 15 Biggest Tech Disappointments of 2007 #2. What Is It Good For: The High-Def Format War Did we learn nothing from VHS vs. Betamax, CD-R vs. CD-RW, DVD-A vs. SACD, and so on down the line? At least the warring DVD camps worked out a compromise in the mid-90s that allowed everyone to profit from the new movie format (though it took them a while). Not so in HD land, where a take-no-prisoners attitude on both sides has left consumers cold. It will be a snowy day in Video Hell before we'll put our money down on either format.

FireWire speeds set to quadruple "On Thursday, the 1394 Trade Association announced the S3200 electrical specification for FireWire. The specification builds upon the existing IEEE 1394b standard by boosting the maximum speed from 800 megabits per second to 3.2Gbps. Importantly, S3200 can use the cables and connectors already in use for FireWire 800 products, the association claimed." "The association's statement claimed the development of S3200 meant users would see no advantage from eSATA, a competing connectivity standard that is starting to appear on hard drives and PCs alike. The association said that eSATA is not faster, nor can it provide electrical power to d…

So BF2 runs fine on my 20.1in Secptre widescreen but when I make my 22in Samsung widescreen the primary monitor BF2 crashes. I have been doing a lot of reading on this an apparently anything over 20.1inches for BF2 and you are getting into a world of hurt... I can at least now get to the log in screen on the 22inch before it craps out on me.... As of right now, I have to load up catalyst, make the 20.1in monitor primary, then load BF2. Then after I'm done, switch back to the 22in as my primary.... I wish they would just patch BF2 to work w/ all sizes of widescreens...

I have now been made a server admin for all of the BF2 sovereign-forces servers. Great group of people on there, TS is always full of people playing some game (CS, BF2, CoD4, Crysis, TF2) so I am enjoying the group a lot. I'm still getting the hang of BF2CC but it seems simple enough. Even though I love CoD4, my vehicle fettish is pretty bad. See you on the battle field!

Display port pictured "This year will be the year of Display port, the new VESA digital display interface. It is a licence free audio and video connection and will be used mainly as a connection between the display and the computer or the computer and a home entertainment system. It wont be natively compatible with HDMI or DVI, but there will be a workaround to make it work, much like DVI can be connected to an HDMI or D-Sub display. This is what it looks like and everyone including Nvidia, ATI and Intel will go down the Display port road in 2008."
