Marvell makes ultrasmall wall plug computer The idea is to make make high-performance, ultracompact and green computer that you can plug right into a wall power socket and let it be on all the time thanks to its ultralow power consumption. According to Marvel, the SheevaPlug draws less than one tenth of the power of a typical PC being used as a home server. Though very much similar to a Powerline adapter in shape and size, the SheevaPlug computer contains a gigahertz class processor to offer PC-like performance. The current model uses a Marvell Kirkwood processor running at 1.2GHz, is equipped with 512 MB of Flash storage and 512MB DRAM and connects to a netw…

Intel Sues Nvidia Over Chipset Licensing It's no secret that relations between chipmaker Intel and graphics developer Nvidia have become complicated lately, with Nvidia very publicly dismissing the quality of Intel's integrated graphics solutions and gunning not only for the high-end graphics market. Intel has filed suit against the graphics developer, claiming a four-year-old chipset licensing agreement between the two companies does not apply to future Intel processors with integrated memory controllers—and by that, Intel means it's forthcoming class of CPUs codenamed "Nehalem," a multi-core processor that will feature an integrated graphics controller and a new…

Sega Teams With Rebellion For New Aliens vs. Predator Title Announced at a Sega press event in London today, prepare to welcome Aliens vs. Predator (only a working title, but you get the gist), which marks the triumphant return of developer Rebellion. A decade ago, they created a game with this same title; a game Sega is now calling "a legendary title that went on to define an entire generation of multiplayer gaming." Details on this new project are a little hazy, but from what we can gather, it's definitely part of the Aliens and AvP series of games.

I upgraded my system from a Sapphire 2900XT 512Mb (the card that everyone whined used so much power) to a Sapphire 4870 Toxic 1GB. I wanted to see what my power was at idle/once the computer was fully booted. Thinking that the 4870 (Two 6-pin = 150Watts avalible to the card) used quite a bit less power then the 2900 (8-pin and 6-pin = 300Watts avalible to the card) I decided to see by hooking up a Kill-a-Watt meter. To my surprise the 4870 uses more power when idle. Going to see if I can get my hands on a 3870 512Mb from a friend to test in my system also. 2900XT = 263Watts 4870 = 289Watts If anyone else has a Kill-A-Watt Meter let me know what your system specs …
