Gamepad/joystick Ports on sound cards do you really need them. over the past few years almost all gamepad/jopysticks can be used with USB so why do card manufacturers still put the port on the cards. Thats one thing that bothers me about the X-fi extreme music. I am considering saving a bit of monay and just getting the Audigy 4 OEM card not really sure if I need more games anyways. I don't have much time for gaming and when I do I always have son with me (5 months old.) A lot of vendors now have weekly rebates on the X-Fi cards so I am wondering if I should stick it out a bit longer and see what happens. This rebate here is very tempting. 169.99 regular aft…

As some of you already know, I purchased about 20 things on-line in the past month with mixed results. The good news is the assembly of my new computer only took about 2.5 hours, booted the first time and had 0 issues...the bad news is I was overcharged, shipped the wrong items and only received a $5 Im sorry refund and a t-shirt (newegg). If I would've waited 6 more days on the same exact items, I would've saved approx $120. Should I crap on resellratings about it? Should I try to work with another person there (2 via chat, 2 via email, 1 via phone)? I was promised $20 credit a week ago and was told it take 3-5 days. Just enough time for me to sit back and not utilize th…

Xbox 360 availability surges "Microsoft today announced that beginning this week it will be shipping "two to three times" as many Xbox 360 units to stores as it has been recently. The increase in supply is attributed to manufacturing firm Celestica, Inc. joining existing partners Wistron Corp. and Flextronics Corp. In a recent interview, Microsoft's Steve Ballmer indicated that the system's widespread shortage was at least partially due to poor performance from an unnamed manufacturing partner."

Havok FX "NVIDIA and Havok will be demonstrating a physics effects solution that runs completely on a graphics processing unit (GPU)" Havok FX, GPUs can simulate the interactions of thousands of colliding rigid bodies, a fundamental technique of physics computation seen in today's latest games. It's now possible to compute the components of friction, collisions, gravity, mass, and velocity that form the basis of rigid body physics.

Portable Xbox "The project is still in its early stages and Microsoft has in the past shelved its plans several times for portable game players as an offshoot of its Xbox. But the company seems more serious this time given the success of the Xbox 360 in the market since its introduction late last year, as well as the popularity of the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS."

ATI and Nvidia's Same-Day Mega-Launch Mayhem "Both high-end cards have rich feature sets and can support multi-GPUs. The answer comes in the form of if you like hardware acceleration of FP16, SLI, Pure Video or another Nvidia-centric feature, then choose Nvidia. Do you like HDR with AA, CrossFire, or another ATI-centric feature? Then choose the ATI solution." NVIDIA's Tiny 90nm G71 and G73: GeForce 7900 and 7600 Debut NVIDIA GeForce 7900 Series Preview Do understand that the reason NVIDIA leaves these harsh filtering optimizations on is two-fold. First, on smaller displays, it simply does not make a difference to the vast majority of gamers out there. Seco…

Alright been busy with a move and been camped out at my parents house till all is g2g again but had some time to binge on this game the game it self is desent, its no command and conqure but solid for what it was built for. the mix of 2d space combat .... space to ground assault and then thow darth vader and the empeor in with light sabers just rocks. the combat kinda does have a rock paper scissors feel to it sadily and no real good FMV and some sad endings to the campaign. the campain itself is playable with its own get this charater here so they can run a mission or take this planet to stop that and as ypou compleat objectives tech levels open up the l…

3Dmark 05 scores revealed "WE HAVE SOME numbers that we would like to share with you before Futuremark finally introduces this long awaited test. With current drivers, Nvidia will score 5000 points with the 6800 Ultra while the X800XT PR will score only 4500 with 4.9 drivers. With the new ATI driver codenamed 8.07, ATI score will jump to an incredible 5800. All these scores are on a 3.4GHz Pentium 4 machine. The ATI driver will be introduced as the Catalyst 4.10 and we learned it should get its WHQL very soon. The Geforce FX 5950 Ultra will score a modest 1270 while the Radeon 9600XT will provide 1570 marks. The mainstream card kicks the former high end in its …
