NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX Lockup Issue Resolved "The only thing that seemed to work though was lowering the clocks back down the reference speeds NVIDIA announced of 650 MHz core, 800 MHz memory and 700 MHz vertex clock. Yes, in this case, the vertex shaders are running slightly faster than the majority of the GPU, the pixel shaders. Turns out that overclocking was one of the main instigators of this problem."

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is simply one of the best role-playing games ever made. The Good: Huge, lavishly detailed world offers tremendous amount of action and adventure; main mechanics like combat, stealth, and magic are fun and well designed; impressive artificial intelligence and hundreds of believable characters; outstanding symphonic score, as well as excellent voice acting and sound effects; tremendous replay value, plus gorgeous graphics to make it easy on the eyes. The Bad: Frequent though fairly brief loading times; you might run into some technical issues with performance.

Interview with Sapphire CEO K D Au "HEXUS: So you mean you might go "green"? KD: I am not saying that directly but a lot of our customers, OEMs and retailers, have asked for both NVIDIA and ATI SKUs. Think of it like this, there are two types of people who will want a German car, some go for BMW, some go for Mercedes - the best thing to do is make sure both are covered. When the time is right, we may do it."

PC World Installs Windows XP on a 20-Inch iMac With Boot Camp "It works. Impressively well. With games, even. That's our first impression of Windows XP running under Apple's Boot Camp on our 20-inch iMac. And that's more than you could say a couple of days ago about the promising-but-hacked-together WinXPonMac effort."

I'm currently running under the following config: Athalon XP 3200+ Barton Gigabyte "GA-7VT600 1394" motherboard 1G DDR3200 (don't know the timings) ATI 9800XT I'm looking to upgrade my system again, since it likes to randomly lock up on me...I want plenty of head room, though. I don't like being limited on upgrades. From where I sit right now, there is no place for me to go. I'm using the fastest Socket A processor that AMD made, the video card is already 8x AGP, and the RAM is running at 400MHz. I'm also on a budget....I'm not looking for a budget computer setup, I'm just limited on the amount of money that I can spend at any given time... Here is what…

7900GT: Unlocking the Beast Within "Of course, we can presume they are speed-binned such that the better ones are used on the GTX. But this bodes well for the 7900GT owners as the potential is likely there. My initial hunch is that the 7900GT are actually supplied with lower voltages so that a very simple single slot cooling solution and a relatively modestly rated power supply can be employed for these cards."

ATI prepares X1700 series "The number of Pixel Shader ALUs (arithmetical logical units) will also get a boost, and the RV560 will feature 24 of them, with four Vertex Shader units. The number of Texture Memory Units (TMU's) has also been raised from four to eight, since there is no logical reason to have fewer textures than pixels per clock."
