  6. Ok after all this talk of new video cards and 45nm processors, I'm going to design a rig that has no business to exist except to have a big E-penis. I'm going to call it Dexter (Ed Murphy Raw). TEC Cooling QX9650 quad core processor 45nm 3ghz (will oc to probably 5ghz w/ TEC cooling) w/ 12mb L2 cache. DDR3 PC 12800 ram 2x1gb (1600mhz) x2 ATI HD 3870 12GB Iram Raid 0 for OS (3 Iram cards w/ 4gb each) Raid 0 for apps Raid 10 for files Probably going to use and extended ATX case of some sort, so keep your eyes peeled for funky looking cases that stand out... 7. Crossfire X driver comes tomorrow Giuseppe Amato, the Director of Value Proposition team at DAAMIT EMEAI, has just confirmed that Crossfire X, or Catalyst 8.3, will launch tomorrow. This new driver will feature Hybrid graphics at the same time. The driver will support 44X AntiAlising mode and two cards should actually end up much faster than a single one. We don’t know how it scales but we will tell you after CeBIT. Triple and quad GPU are possible, and you can mix and match ATI's Radeon HD 3800 series. PowerPlay will be the part of that driver. Well, it comes tomorrow, and we will know much more soon.

  9. Time-Warner is now mulling a plan to charge a per-gigabyte fee for internet service. A leaked memo reveals they're now watching how many gigabytes customers use in a 'consumption-based' pricing experiment in Texas. The announced plan was that they were considering a tier-based approach, as opposed to per-gigabyte fees. 'As few as 5 percent of our customers use 50 percent of the network,' Time-Warner complains, with plans to cap usage at 5-gigabytes, and more expensive pricing plans granting 10-, 20-, and 40-gigabyte quotas. It would suck to have Netflix to download HD movies and use your bandwidth in a day.

  10. USB 3.0 start to appear, sort of "USB 3.0 hasn't yet been fully completed but it's implementation could come more quickly than its predecessor's did. Vendors are already starting to prepare their computer hardware for the new bus standard. Today, for example, we saw an upcoming Asus notebook with a pair of USB 3.0 ports. Well, sort of. The ports are actually rated as USB 2.0 devices and didn't appear to have the extra pins required by the new version of the bus. However, the spaces where those pins will go were clearly present."
