I have a couple of sticks of 512 Ultra PC3200 DDR and I figured for $3 I'd get the heatspreaders when I bought the ram. The conflict I'm seeing here is that the ram has a sticker over the chips that says warranty void if removed. I'm pretty sure to have the best thermal efficiency and adhesion of the contact pad of the heat spreader, that direct chip contact is needed. What has everyone else done? Go over the stickers, or rip the suckers off and not worry about the warranty? I have a call in to Ultra too to find out what their official stance is.

Chaintech 7NJL6 Socket A Motherboard -$30 AMD Athlon XP3000+ Socket A CPU Barton Core 333FSB -$60 2x Ultra 512MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz CL3 - $40 Ultra X-Connect 500w Modular PS - $35 ASUS Geforce 6600 TD 256 meg Video card -$92 Maxtor 160 gig drive - $50 Nothing blazing, but I got everything for around $300 after all the rebates. So it gets me up to speed and able to play again and it didn't break the bank. P.S. Did I mention that I LOVE Onrebate. rebates directly to my paypal account in about a month. gotta love it. By the time I get the credit card bill, I usually have the cash back.

'iPod tax' coming to Japan? "The industry has asked the Japanese government to charge a royalty, to be added to the retail price of portable digital music players like Apple's iPod, which has been explosively popular here. Money earned from the fee, which will be probably be 2 percent to 5 percent of the retail price, would go to recording companies, songwriters and artists as compensation for revenue lost from home copying."

Serious Sam 2 v2.064.00 Patch - 13.2 Meg Serious Sam2 comes out today!! And as much as I hate seeing game-day patches come out, at least its tiny compared to most. - Customize keys menu screen is now more mouse friendly. - Mouse movement is ignored during key binding process (customize keys menu screen). - Mouse buttons 4 and 5 are now supported (through the customize keys menu screen). - Cheats button will no more appear on the main menu screen when the user is advised to adjust video settings for the first time. - Questionable picture has been removed from the multiplayer menu screen. - Virtual keyboard has been removed from the enter text (enter name…
