I think its about time I got a new sound card the one I have is the original sound blaster live value. I think that may be causing some issues with games of today. I have been looking at these cards which would be better for gaming. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=290236 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=360224 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=290243 newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16829102188

Buy.com were being a pain in the arse so I cancelled my order. They told me today it was going to take another 24 to 48 hours to verify my billing address so I cancelled the order.

Gamepad/joystick Ports on sound cards do you really need them. over the past few years almost all gamepad/jopysticks can be used with USB so why do card manufacturers still put the port on the cards. Thats one thing that bothers me about the X-fi extreme music. I am considering saving a bit of monay and just getting the Audigy 4 OEM card not really sure if I need more games anyways. I don't have much time for gaming and when I do I always have son with me (5 months old.) A lot of vendors now have weekly rebates on the X-Fi cards so I am wondering if I should stick it out a bit longer and see what happens. This rebate here is very tempting. 169.99 regular aft…

I'm currently running under the following config: Athalon XP 3200+ Barton Gigabyte "GA-7VT600 1394" motherboard 1G DDR3200 (don't know the timings) ATI 9800XT I'm looking to upgrade my system again, since it likes to randomly lock up on me...I want plenty of head room, though. I don't like being limited on upgrades. From where I sit right now, there is no place for me to go. I'm using the fastest Socket A processor that AMD made, the video card is already 8x AGP, and the RAM is running at 400MHz. I'm also on a budget....I'm not looking for a budget computer setup, I'm just limited on the amount of money that I can spend at any given time... Here is what…

I currently have 3 x 20" Dell LCDs, but my table is only 48" wide. If I use Pythagorean's theorem I could set it up diagonally and triple my mouse sensitivity, but it looks stupid and I waste a lot of space I would normally pile crap on like change and sodas. Maybe I'll just stick to the 2 monitor thang that way I dont have to type runon sentences and babble about nothing just to reach the second line of a post...what do you think?? I was gonna post pics, but Adelphia's server is crap and gives me access denied (550).

Creative spills the beans on X-Fi faults "Apparently, all of those that exhibited the symptoms were high-spec gaming systems. Isolating them has taken a bit of time mostly because although they all seemed be based on NForce4 chipsets, they didn’t have much else in common."

How Many Miles per Gallon Does Your CPU Get? "Sure, you could hold a thermometer to your CPU and run a billion calculations and divide one by the other, but AMD and Intel are going to start advertising these numbers, so they're going to have to figure out some industry standards."

Power Color X1800 GTO: Cable-free Crossfire Explored "Power Color has sent us their X1800 GTO card which is specced identically to the Sapphire version, albeit with a different cooler. To add some meat to this article however, we will be testing both cards in Crossfire in a number of configurations to see how ATI's recently implemented cable-less Crossfire support fares."

CPU-boundedness of the video system Part I - Analysis "To start with, we produce results in the game HALF-Life2 at 1024õ768 in the «maximum details» mode but with the antialiasing and anisotropic filtering disabled. There is contradiction here. The «maximum details» settings are in charge of the image quality, and the disabled AA/AF allow producing FPS values which do "rest against" the CPU performance. We depict the produced results on the graph, with the X axis denoting the CPU clock speed and the Y axis reflecting the produced values of the video card performance in FPS."
