ParoxysM
Changed my sig today to reflect my current rig. Been attempting to overclock since yesterday with mixed results. Default specs are: Opteron 165 - 200x9 = 1.8GHz 2G Corsair XMS - 200x2=DDR400 @ 2-3-3-8-2 Radeon x1800xt - 625MHz / 1500MHz HTT - 5x 3dmark2k1 - 22321 3dmark2k3 - 15027 3dmark2k5 - 8135 3dmark2k6 - 4142 Current OC state: Opteron 165 - 279x9 = 2.5GHz 2G Corsair XMS - 239x2=DDR478 @ 3-3-3-8-2 Radeon x1800xt - 625MHz / 1500MHz HTT - 2x 3dmark2k1 - 29360 3dmark2k3 - 16200 3dmark2k5 - 8615 3dmark2k6 - 4310 To be continued...after I read the Interweb
ParoxysM
Im done for the night...can post @ 298, but Windows BSODs. Current OC state: Opteron 165 - 295x9 = 2.655GHz 2G Corsair XMS - 190x2=DDR380 @ 2-3-3-8-1 Radeon x1800xt - 625MHz / 1500MHz HTT - 2x 33C idle / 49C load 3dmark2k1 - 31651 3dmark2k3 - 16600 3dmark2k5 - 8882 3dmark2k6 - 4478 These newer 3dmark app scores should be better once I OC the video... B.Ob.
For those that might be interested in same motherboard ParoxysM has, here is an interesting review: Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe review
ParoxysM
Wow, I wish I got a cd in the box like he did...grrr. I had to download the Probe software. I did not flash my BIOS to newest, this guy had tons of issues before doing so. 90fps @ 2048x1536 is insane for Q4. The games I have tested so far are played @ 1600x1200. Current OC state: Opteron 165 - 298x9 = 2.68GHz 2G Corsair XMS - 193x2=DDR386 @ 2-3-3-8-1 Radeon x1800xt - 625MHz / 1500MHz HTT - 2x 33C idle / 51C load
ParoxysM
I RMA'd my video card while at work...I was pushing it's buttons last night and it told me to take a hike, so back ya go!! Should get the new one Monday. Newegg currently has the loveati promo code available for $50 off ATI cards, but it's only on ATI-build cards over $350...which are generally almost $100 more than 3rd party ones. ParoxysM
I got the Thermalright SI-120 with an Antec Pro 120 @ 2700rpm Ocing tip: assemble and attach the HSU/fan completely before inserting motherboard or PSU...cause you will only have .4mm of room left to work with. Current OC state: Opteron 165 - 298x9 = 2.68GHz 2G Corsair XMS - 193x2=DDR386 @ 2-3-3-8-1 Radeon x1800xt - 625MHz / 1500MHz HTT - 3x 35C idle / 54C load
B.Ob.
Nice!! Thermalright always does good stuff!!! I still have not picked out the fans for my new case, perhaps this will help me and others out: 120mm Fan Roundup: 17 Fans Compared
ParoxysM
I've never used any of those fans before nor have I known anyone to.
B.Ob.
Kind of disappointing they did not use Thermaltake or Sunco fans, as I know I've used those before. Oh well.... *shrug* The mp3's is kinda neat thou.
ParoxysM
Got my new vid card last night, didnt mess with the GPU/Mem yet, but but my scores went up with lower/more stable FSB?!?!: Current OC state: Opteron 165 - 295x9 = 2.66GHz 2G Corsair XMS - 192x2=DDR384 @ 2-3-3-6-1 Radeon x1800xt - 625MHz / 1500MHz HTT - 3x 35C idle / 56C load Before 3dmark2k1 - 31651 3dmark2k3 - 16600 3dmark2k5 - 8882 3dmark2k6 - 4478 After: 3dmark2k1 - 32264 3dmark2k3 - 16717 3dmark2k5 - 8918 3dmark2k6 - 4552
B.Ob.
From what little I've read so far, having a stable HTT seems to be the biggest key to a fast stable system, regardless of cpu, or something else, being OC'd.
ParoxysM
Im done for the night...finally broke 5k: Current OC state: Opteron 165 - 295x9 = 2.66GHz 2G Corsair XMS - 190x2=DDR380 @ 2-3-3-6-1 Radeon x1800xt - 690MHz / 1600MHz <--- new HTT - 3x 34C idle / 56C load Before: 3dmark2k1 - 32264 3dmark2k3 - 16717 3dmark2k5 - 8918 3dmark2k6 - 4552 After: 3dmark2k1 - 34305 3dmark2k3 - 18679 3dmark2k5 - 10033 3dmark2k6 - 5001 I feel 5500 is achivable with my system...Im not even pushing the video yet (34C). ParoxysM
Should I get the X1800 CrossFire Edition for $309 after rebate??
B.Ob.
Should I get the X1800 CrossFire Edition for $309 after rebate?? Hmmm, tempting.... Do you have a p/s that has enough juice to power everything? As you might have stability issues, or worse, if it is borderline.
