How To: Make a PCI Express Power Connector "As highlighted above, this top section is perfect. Hacking a PSU apart is not the best solution for everyone, but if you are like us you will probably have a dead PSU lying around somewhere. We found the best way to separate the top three pins is to use a hack saw. If you cut from the pin side and angle away from the top three, you have less chance of cutting into the pins you need. A quick clean up with a file or sharp knife will give us an appropriate plug."

Audigy 2 to Audigy 4 softmod "The buzz has actually been around for a while, but I didn't notice it until I saw this thread in our forum. Started by longtime member 5-Clicks, it is titled "Softmod your Audigy/2/Live! into an Audigy 4 Pro!". In it, there is a link to another forum describing how to install Audigy 4 drivers on an Audigy 2 card. Some of the comments in the forums made me curious:"

Titan Amanda TEC (Thermal Electronic Chip) Cooler Review "The Titan Amanda TEC is a tower-design cooler with four heat pipes and two fans for taking air in and exhausting it. The first pair of heat pipes takes heat off the bottom plate of the copper base which is nickel-plated to prevent corrosion (quoting the manufacturer). Next goes a 60W Peltier element that pumps heat up from its bottom to top, above which another nickel-plated copper plate is located. Two more heat pipes take heat away from the top plate. The plates are fastened together with four spring-loaded screws. You can see traces of thermal grease along their edges. Judging by the color and consis…

I'm trying to figure out how to make a plastic case NOT fry my components....I'm not talking about plexi, it's about the same material that a 5-gallon bucket is made out of. Really light, VERY sturdy. I've got the design down, just don't know if I should spray it with metallic paint to make it conductive (which I've seen suggested on other forums) or if there's some way to make it anti-static.... Any suggestions?

Spiderman 3 mod "Pro modders and their creations will draw more traffic for sure, but these mods transition from the realm of "hobbist fun" and its fraternal nature into the serious world of elite precision. I suggest this level only if the intent is brand awareness--like Intel/AMD making a market wide statement about cutting edge segment leading processors in general as opposed to a company like DangerDen wanting to throw a little light on their newest GPU block."

Measuring the Benefits of AGP: Is PCI-Express Necessary? "During Computex we saw photos of several Intel 925x boards equipped with both PCI Express and AGP slots. Since Intel’s new chipset doesn’t offer simultaneous support for PCI-E and AGP, there was a serious question as to how Gigabyte and ECS (the two manufacturers with boards on display) were accomplishing it." ... ... ... "For the gamer, however, PCI-Express is going to be a non-issue. Given that most games today barely stress the AGP 2x bus, moving to double AGP 8x isn’t going to do anything. It’s the equivalent of widening a highway no one drives on. Had AGP developed in the direction it was intended…
