  1. We lost a power adapter, similar to, but not exactly looking like this: It was over on the air hockey table which was behind Jay, Jerry and Kevin. It seems to have disappeared. I was wondering if someone might have packed it up by mistake. It actually goes to our LitterMaid Kitty box. If you could please check your stuff, that would be cool, thanks!!

I upgraded my system from a Sapphire 2900XT 512Mb (the card that everyone whined used so much power) to a Sapphire 4870 Toxic 1GB. I wanted to see what my power was at idle/once the computer was fully booted. Thinking that the 4870 (Two 6-pin = 150Watts avalible to the card) used quite a bit less power then the 2900 (8-pin and 6-pin = 300Watts avalible to the card) I decided to see by hooking up a Kill-a-Watt meter. To my surprise the 4870 uses more power when idle. Going to see if I can get my hands on a 3870 512Mb from a friend to test in my system also. 2900XT = 263Watts 4870 = 289Watts If anyone else has a Kill-A-Watt Meter let me know what your system specs …

Exactly what I predicted would happen when Guitar Hero's first appeared. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10465715-1.html Instead of using plastic simulations of guitars that are essentially just dressed-up plastic game controllers, the game uses fully functional six-string guitars that control the game, but can also be played in real life. We got a sneak peek at an early version of the game and its hardware, and came away impressed with the general concept. The guitars have quarter-inch instrument jacks, which can be used to hook them up to any guitar amp. When connected to an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 console, you press a button and a dampening …

  7. World's First Powerless Air Cooler on a Mainboard! "The "Air Power Cooler" transfers the chipset heat into air momentum, when the air becomes hot, the air will expand then push the fan to rotate and In doing so cooling the heatsink immediately. After the air moves from the bottom to top of the piston, the air will become heavy to push the up piston down. The better air piston design can transfer over 70% heat power and transfer to air power, that's great efficiency transfer from Stirling engine theory. In a comparison with solar power the transfer rate is only around 20~30% requiring more surface and as a result cost." One thing I DO like about this, is the fan wo…

  9. Preview of NVIDIA Quad GPU SLI "Thanks to the PCI Express (PCIe) interface, combining two graphics cards in an SLI configuration is easily achieved. Just plug two identical GeForce 6 or GeForce 7 cards into the motherboard, and connect them with the SLI bridge connector. The two cards will then split the 3D rendering load between them, which can result in a performance improvement of up to 70 percent in everyday life. Now that PCI Express motherboards are available with PCIe x32 - or, more correctly, two x16 slots - there are also some new and intriguing possibilities."

Prey - The big crunch "I'm not talking about a certain unhealthy sugary cereal with a ship's stumpy captain as a mascot...I'm talking about the 14 hour days developers put in near a project's end to shine-up our games before that inevitable looming date when we must hand over the gold master to our publisher. Even us "when-it's-done" studios have such dates -- we just do not make them public until the very end. It's impossible to avoid deadline dates nowadays, because there's so much coordinated pre-planning and marketing that must be created and purchased (magazine ads, banners, marketing events, etc.) in order to maximize the anticipation and awareness of your gam…

Prey interview "GS: Tell us about the world of Prey. Will the game take place on a futuristic version of Earth, on another planet, or somewhere else entirely? What kind of environments can we expect to explore and fight through in the game? Will the game be focused primarily on indoor corridor crawls, huge outdoor areas, or some combination of the two? TG and CR: The "sphere" that Tommy finds himself on turns out to be a huge living being the size of the state of Texas. The "corridors" and "rooms" inside this sphere are part of its living flesh, with races of survivors living a parasitic existence by using the materials they harvest from the worlds they visit to …

Prey Super Trailer This looks incredible!!! Also an article to go along with it: Prey Super Trailer! "I have to say that Prey is a powerful, amazing game. And even this trailer barely conveys the story depth and unique gameplay innovations the game world will soon experience firsthand. I've spent the better part of the last six months living with all the latest builds. And even before that, growing up across the street from 3D Realms founder, Scott Miller (how cool is that!), I was around for the birth of Prey back in 1996...so I've had quite a few years for Prey to percolate in my film-director mindset."
