Prey interview

"GS: Tell us about the world of Prey. Will the game take place on a futuristic version of Earth, on another planet, or somewhere else entirely? What kind of environments can we expect to explore and fight through in the game? Will the game be focused primarily on indoor corridor crawls, huge outdoor areas, or some combination of the two?

TG and CR: The "sphere" that Tommy finds himself on turns out to be a huge living being the size of the state of Texas. The "corridors" and "rooms" inside this sphere are part of its living flesh, with races of survivors living a parasitic existence by using the materials they harvest from the worlds they visit to build structures within its body. This gives us a chance to really play with locations, which are a combination of flesh and ramshackle walls harvested from spacecraft or buildings that were sucked up with the people the sphere has visited."

Prey Interview

"IGN: What is the concept behind the alien ship? Is it a living creature, or a hive creature? And what does it want from the people on Earth?

Chris: The ship is a Dyson Sphere, meaning the ship is a large, hollow sphere with a small sun at the center. The ship is organic and has grown around the various structures created by the inhabitants. There are plenty of places throughout the game where the flesh has grown and pushed through walls and floors. The inhabitants have a symbiotic relationship with the ship -- it provides them with a living space, heat and light. They provide the ship with food."
