Intel's Core 2 Quadro Kentsfield: Four Cores on a Rampage "More important is power consumption: Intel wants to stay within the 130-W power envelope with the quadruple Core 2 Quadro processor. The 130-W figure was almost achieved by the Pentium Extreme Edition 965 and the Core 2 Quadro processor does it again; but it packs a total of four CPU cores on the chip now. The four cores are not located on a single piece of silicon, but the two Core 2 chips are placed next to each other inside the processor package. Consequently, the transistor count doubles to an impressive 582 million." Q&A with AMD : AMD's Dr. Gaith Kadir "Next, we spoke about upcoming AM…

AMD Athlon 64 FX-74 & Quad FX Platform Review "The FX-74 processors sit atop of NVIDIA’s nForce 680a chipset, an enthusiast class board you’d expect to be running Google’s web servers instead of a heated game of Ghost Recon. The Quad FX Platform truly comes into play in the second half of 2007 when AMD will have their native quad-core processors ready, giving you a 4-core by 4-core system. At that time enthusiasts will be able to use the Quad FX platform to drop two quad-core CPU’s into their system giving you an octo-core desktop system."

AMD adds new flagship Athlon 64 X2 processors 5400+, 5600+ "For now, AMD's aging 90 nm "Toledo" core has to say of the forefront of the battle against Intel's Core 2 Duo, formerly code-named "Conroe". The new processors 5400+ and 5600+ use socket AM2 and increase the clock speed from 2.6 GHz of the 5000+/5200+ to 2.8 GHz. As previously, AMD uses different cache sizes for different performance ratings of its processors: The 5400+ has 1 MB L2 cache, the 5600+ 2 MB." They have finally released what I've had my Opty running at for months now.... :welldone: Or at least it will be again, after my new p/s comes in. (backordered) :rtfm:
