Sacred
wasn't sure where to put this. so I thought would try here. I am looking for a flat panel LCD. What do I need to consider when making purchase. I found a 17 inch for 130.00 IC Power 17" LCD Monitor, 450:1 contrast ratio http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?...duct_id=3300983 19 inch for 170.00 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?...duct_id=3321518
B.Ob.
Personally I wouldn't look at anything smaller than a 19". The extra desktop space is quite nice!! I'm sure my LCD has been superseeded by better models, but since I've gotten a few compliments on my LCD, I'll dig up the specs as a baseline for ya.... B.Ob.
Samsung 930BF Model Name: SyncMaster 930BF-Black Model Number: 930BF Panel Type: a-si TFT/TN Viewable Size: 19" Pixel Pitch: 0.294mm Brightness (Typical): 270 cd/m2 Contrast Ratio (Typical): 700:1 Viewing Angle (H/V, Typical): 160°/160° (CR>5) Aspect Ratio: 4:3 Interface: Analog/Digital Response Time (Typical): 4ms (Gray-To-Gray) Native Resolution: 1280x1024 Max Colors: 16.2 Million Input Video Signal: Analog RGB, DVI Digital Link Sync Type: Separate H/V, Composite H/V, SOG Input Connectors: 15-Pin D-Sub, DVI-D Max Power Consumption: 38 Watts Wall-Mount Interface: VESA 75mm Emission Std.: TCO '99 Bezel Color: Black/Black Net Dimensions: 16.6"(W) x 16.8"(H) x 7.9"(D) Weight: 11.2 Lbs Special Features: MagicBright™, MagicTune, MagicColor, Built-in Power, Fast Response Time (4ms G-to-G), Safe Mode So go for a 19 inch. Response time, anything 8ms and lower should be good for ya. Widescreen? nice but usually premium price over the regular 4:3 ones (then you'll want your older games to be wide, and they won't, or if you stretch the screen, it will look horrible). Mine had a larger than normal viewing angle, which I was interested in, since I usually try to show what I put on my screen to a group of people. One feature that mine has that you don't see on the spec sheet is the ability to one button switch from from the VGA to digital input, as it comes in handy going between my game and surfing pc.
