  3. I have a couple of sticks of 512 Ultra PC3200 DDR and I figured for $3 I'd get the heatspreaders when I bought the ram. The conflict I'm seeing here is that the ram has a sticker over the chips that says warranty void if removed. I'm pretty sure to have the best thermal efficiency and adhesion of the contact pad of the heat spreader, that direct chip contact is needed. What has everyone else done? Go over the stickers, or rip the suckers off and not worry about the warranty? I have a call in to Ultra too to find out what their official stance is.

So it gets me up to speed and able to play again and it didn't break the bank. P.S. Did I mention that I LOVE Onrebate. rebates directly to my paypal account in about a month. gotta love it. By the time I get the credit card bill, I usually have the cash back.

I have more money that I expected to have to spend on my next system (too bad, eh?). anyway, what's ppl's opinions on maybe dropping the extra $$$ to go with a amd64 x2 chip vs. amd64? both are socket 939 so I could upgrade down the line, or just drop the cash now. There are some pretty nice deals on pricewatch for mobo/cpu/ram combos. I just don't know if the price difference is worth it. I'll def. be picking up a nice pci-e video card, like I said, dunno if I should splurge on a chip, specifically an amd64 x2 3800. kevin

My computer isnt top ofthe line. The specs are as follows: 933MHz Pentium 3 1gb sd ram 133MHz 4gb maxtor 250GB seagate Radeon VE Creative sound blaster Okay you can see im not going to "own" anybody with this, but it does run all the games I like really good. What I want to know is, could I bring this to lan partys? I really dont play newer games like Halo or Doom 3.

The Latest DVD Writers' True Speeds "So while the quick arrival of dual-layer writers has helped keep both -R/RW and +R/RW stay in the race, the + standard still has a lead. The + standard's writing performance also proved to be better, as you'll see later in our test results. With this in mind, we tested the writers with media that are actually available for sale to make sure our tests reflect actual conditions on the street today."

2GB of RAM: Do We Really Need That Much? "...1GB memory modules used to be pretty rare and cost quite a bit of money until recently. However, the situation has changed lately, as the memory chips needed for 1GB memory modules production became wider available. As a result, there appeared some pretty fast overclocker’s DDR SDRAM modules with 1GB capacity in the market. Unfortunately, they cannot boast the same characteristics as 512MB solutions most popular among computer enthusiasts. Of course, you can equip your system with 2GB of memory by installing 4 x512MB modules. However, this solution will always work slower than a system equipped with a pair of 1GB memory DIM…

  14. So I reinstalled Website Watcher last night, bookmarked the top 10 sites that carry the x1900xt, set to check the price every 10 minutes and to email me @ work/home if it changes. This program is very useful if you're into the refurbs @ newegg as that stuff get snapped up fairly quickly. Bought my current video card and motherboard that way, saved about $110 and lasted 3 years. I plan to do this for the ideal RAM, motherboard, case, etc. Will be looking at Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe, 2x1G XMS or OCZ RAM, 2x hdd (Raptor 150G and WD 250G or more), 600W PSU, etc. Please list any suggestions as some of you guys research hardware all day every day, :dork:
