Quadtet: Nvidia GeForce 7900 Quad SLI Performance Unveiled "But quad SLI is not meant to be inexpensive. It is meant to offer something that nothing else can and make owners of such technologies feel like the owners of Ferrari or Lamborghini, luxurious sports cars. Very few people can afford those automobiles and considerably more can acquire less expensive mass-produced sport cars and tune them to performance that is not significantly below the cost of a new Ferrari. Still, being an owner of black Lamborghini should bring a totally different feeling than being an owner of a blue Nissan. The same applies to quad SLI: perhaps, some graphics cards may perform truly well…

7900GT: Unlocking the Beast Within "Of course, we can presume they are speed-binned such that the better ones are used on the GTX. But this bodes well for the 7900GT owners as the potential is likely there. My initial hunch is that the 7900GT are actually supplied with lower voltages so that a very simple single slot cooling solution and a relatively modestly rated power supply can be employed for these cards."

Industry Feeling Presence of the 800-Pound Google "Sources say Google has been in negotiations with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., among other retailers, to sell a Google PC. The machine would run an operating system created by Google, not Microsoft's Windows, which is one reason it would be so cheap — perhaps as little as a couple of hundred dollars."

New Nvidia product speculated Hmmm, lowend 8300 GS ($79) getting 24 shaders, and the 8600 Ultra ($179) getting 64 shaders. Makes for an interesting lineup. For what is worth, ATI is supposedly announcing a full lineup when the R600 is released.

950W Power Supply Units Sneak into Market "SNE, a Japanese maker of various hardware aimed at enthusiasts and overclockers, recently started to sell its 950W, 900W and 850W power supply units, claiming the world’s record PSUs. The devices, however, can draw peak wattage only in extreme cases. In typical cases the power of the PSUs is 750W, 700W and 650W respectively, which is still among the world’s top power supply units. PSUs from SNE can power typical ATX as well as EPS12V systems, which means that the devices can be used for both desktop and workstation/server computers. The power supplies are equipped with 5 connectors for Serial ATA, 4 connectors for mini-Mo…

Here come the 9600GT specs "The funniest part is that they have a slide that says "116% Faster!!!", and immediately follow it with "Single Largest Generational Performance Increase in our History", in green no less. Does anyone else read this as them admitting that the 8600 sucked? Hint: it did."

Here's the problem I'm having boys and girls. As some of you may have seen at the last lan party, my video card was running at "Halflife" while running Halo. So right after xmas weekend I'm going to order a new card, hoping prices may down a little after x-mas but its really not that important. In the mean time I need to figure out which to get. Choice #1 Just buy the damn 9600xt and be happy damnit! It has some nice ocing and thats about it. Choice #2 Here's where the problems start. I can buy the 9800se and oc it just like the 9600xt but... the 9800 can be modded to a 9800/9800pro by flashing the bios. Of course I'll have to upgrade the cooling. No prob, I'v…
