9600GT cometh

Here come the 9600GT specs

"The funniest part is that they have a slide that says "116% Faster!!!", and immediately follow it with "Single Largest Generational Performance Increase in our History", in green no less. Does anyone else read this as them admitting that the 8600 sucked? Hint: it did."

NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT 512MB G94 Tested

"It really is a bit of a touch decision between the HD 3870 and the 9600GT, especially since the HD 3870 has come down in price a whole heap in the past month. AMD offer monthly driver updates and the 8.3 Catalyst drivers due out in March are sounding pretty good at the moment. With that said though, the 9 series are what NVIDIA are going to be concentrating on in the performance department from now on, and they tend to bring us good increases when it comes to official drivers."

9600GT recalled, 9800X2 delayed

"IT LOOKS LIKE Nvidia is firing on no cylinders lately. The firm can't seem to get a product out on time. There is one bright spot: the count on the 9600GT delays has gone up by 50 per cent."

Side note - You can get 2x 8800GS combo'd with 2x 4GB USB drives for $305 shipped. There is a $5 rebate on the USB drive if you want to deal with that too.

Cheap SLI and can overclock 25%-30% above stock (basically a pair of 8800 GT then)

Is there a combo combo deal? As just one card and drive shows up as 179.99

9600GT is OUT today!!!

Bringing Competition to Midrange: The GeForce 9600 GT Raises NVIDIA's Sub $200 Bar

"Rather than seeing the fact that we need more info as a bad thing, we are very grateful that we have this problem: the competition is hot enough to push both NVIDIA and AMD to do all they can to provide the best value for the consumer. And the real winner in that situation is everyone in the market for a graphics card under $200.

Update: It looks like the price cuts have happened and with Radeon HD 3870s now available for under $190, AMD has a very compelling value argument. It wasn't too long ago that we were looking at these cards as mid-$200 parts offering performance within reach of the 8800 GT. Now at under $200 the Radeon HD 3870 is just as good of a buy as the 9600 GT - in some of our tests it proves to be faster, while others paint it as a slower card."

I just bought 2 of these, I should be able to get 100 fps in Crysis now!!

Newegg ftw!!

Everything I've read so far shows the drivers for the quad 9800gx2 is more immature than the drivers for the 3870x2.

Unfortunately, this thread is on the 9600GT, which does continue to fall in price, for those wanting an nvidia card!
