  6. MS Technet Setting this value to 1 is useful when debugging drivers, because all of the code and data is always memory resident. It also improves performance on machines with a lot of memory, because it prevents disk reads to get code or data. I benchmarked my system with 3dmark06, 3dmark01, FEAR and CS:S before and after setting this to 1. I either lost or stayed about the same with my 2x1GB RAM. I added another 2x512MB RAM to total 3GB and the performance was worse (I had to change from 1T to 2T to use older stuff). I cant play with these low frames...

  12. Age of Empires to support SM 3.0 "High Dynamic Range lighting, as featured in the latest Far Cry patch, will be used in the game to render the lush landscapes of the colonial age in which the game is set. Whilst Doom 3 had a hidden option to toggle self-shadowing, AOE3 will come with that feature fully built into the engine, meaning that ships and soldiers will be shaded more realistically than ever. We fully expect that this will be the first in a wave of DX9/SM3 announcements this year, as the in-game engines finally catch up to the hardware released last year."

Apple plans to move lower-end computers such as the Mac Mini to Intel chips in mid-2006 and higher-end models such as the Power Mac in mid-2007, sources said."
