EA's first-person shooter has an October 10 release date, with pre-loads available now across all platforms except the Epic Games Store." Been a good while since I played last. Participated in the second open beta weekend and it was a blast. Anyone pi king this up or waiting for the inevitable deep discounts next year? 😅

  4. Epic Games have released the first Unreal Tournament 2004 patch, bringing the game up to version 3204. Notable features in this patch include an experimental Direct3D 9 renderer as well as a lack of CD-in-drive copy protection. This patch is completely compatible with the retail version and previous patches - servers and clients of any flavor can connect with each other. This patch will not overwrite your ut2004.ini and user.ini files, except to update settings as necessary. This is identical to the beta 3204 we released earlier. The patch change list is included in the patch. After installing the patch, you can find it at ut2004\help\readmepatch.int.txt Li…

  6. Tim Sweeney on UE3 "BU: UT2004 required 5.5 gigs of hard drive space to install. This has got to be a strain a lot of people's systems. So you're talking 2048 x 2048 texture sets, what kind of system and memory is this next game going to take? TS: Well, we are aiming at the kind of PC that we think will be mainstream in 2006. We will also be able to scale it down. Basically DirectX 9 cards will be minimum spec, so any DirectX 9 shipping today will be capable of running our game, but probably at reduced detail. If you only have a 256 meg video card you will be running the game one step down, whereas if you have a video card with a gig of memory then you'll be able…

The first volume of the pack contains a whopping 21 new maps, four new characters and a new mutator, created by some of the most talented members of the Unreal community. Note that this is just the first volume of the CBP. The second volume will be released next Thursday, May 17th, and will feature more all-new content that wasn't quite ready in time for the deadline. It's also been revealed that the CBP team will soon be releasing an official UT2004 version of the original UT2003 Community Bonus Pack, released last year." <-- I think they mean May 27th. …
