Hehe, sounds like your about ready!! I wasn't really ready myself, $$-wise, but I found a little more in my paycheck than I expected.... Also, per the collectors's Edition box, its says 5.5Gig for install. Checking the install folder, windows reports back 5.26Gig, thats including the original Halflife:Source installed, which I think was 30Meg.

And it appears to run WAY better than Doom3 did on my system!! But I've only gone a couple mins into it so far....

Half Life 2 GPU Roundup Part 2 - Mainstream DX8/DX9 Battle

"When it comes to developing games, the biggest thing publishers look for are minimum system requirements. The lower the minimum system requirements, the more games publishers can sell. But the problem with really low minimum system requirements is that you end up with a game that doesn’t look too great on higher end hardware. Valve has spent a great deal of time ensuring that multiple rendering paths were included with Half Life 2 to not only offer great performance on low end graphics cards, but also to offer spectacular image quality on high end GPUs. The three codepaths that we will be looking at today are Valve’s DirectX 7, DirectX 8/8.1 and DirectX 9 paths in Half Life 2."

Half-Life 3 leaked!

Gonna quote the whole thing in case it disappears:

"Or its eventual existence at least, according to loose-lipped Swedes

Swedish mag Gamereactor has broken cover (and, it appears, its non-disclosure agreement) by claiming that Valve CEO Gabe Newell revealed that Half-Life 3 is in the planning stage at the Seattle developers.

Speaking during a recent press briefing at Valve HQ, Newell is said to have revealed that, at this stage, the company envisage Half-Life 2 female NPC Alyx as playable in Half-Life 3, and promised more alien-based revelations.

While it's no great surprise that the series will continue, Valve and publishers Vivendi can't be too impressed that Half-Life 3 appears to have been confirmed before they've even managed to get 2 into the shops. Expect much more confirmed info in the build up to this year's E3."

Console steps to create a HL deathmatch server:

net_start

sv_lan 0

deathmatch 1

maxplayers (whatever you want)

map (mapname)

restart

That is for HL:Source, HL2, both?

notes of hl2

-- i like it, looks good and story is moving... untill it crashed maybe just needed a reboot

-- the water, glass, and partial effects look really hot

-- AI is feeling scripted already and havent got out of the canals yet

-- thowing and picking things up and thowing is fun

CS source

-- i like how it looks but doesnt feel like CS, maybe it was ping or no choice in skins of players or a bad tweek to the netcode or how the actors move, just cant pinpoint it. and it sucks when there is a ping spike

but is is nice to see people not falling though walls when they die and weapons and objects bounceing around

Oh well, it will go faster then 2nd time, plus I'll know where I'm going... B)

A platform update is available and will be applied automatically when Steam is restarted. The change includes:

No longer require "remember password" to be checked to play offline"

Should have been this way from the beginning, but at least they didn't take long to put it in!!
