GeForce 6800 GS "Today sees the introduction of a part that performs just as well as the 6800 GT but costs about $70 to $80 less. The 6800 GS looks like it hits the sweet spot between price and performance this holiday season. Aside from cutting the cost of the 6800 GT, the 6800 GS doesn't cost that much more than a vanilla 6800 with 256MB of RAM. As the vanilla 6800 performs just slightly better than the 6600 GT, we can say with confidence that the 6800 GS has taken over the 6800 line and is the only real option left of the bunch."

  12. Nvidia to launch GeForce 7900 GTX 'at CeBIT' "...citing whispers heard during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week. According to the report, the chip will contain 32 pixel-processing pipelines in a core clocked at 700-750MHz. The GDDR 3 memory will run at 800-900MHz (1.6-1.8GHz, effective)."

XFX GeForce 7900 GS 480M Extreme "The GeForce 7900 GS has the same clock frequencies as the 7900 GT, 450 MHz GPU core frequency and 660 MHz (1.32 GHz) memory frequency. Where it differs is in the pipeline layout. The GeForce 7900 GS has 20 pixel shader units versus the 24 of the 7900 GT. That cuts the fillrate down from 10.8 GPixels/sec to 9 GPixels/sec. The vertex shader units have also taken a slight reduction to 7 on the GeForce 7900 GS versus 8 on the 7900 GT. Raster Operator count is the same at 16 with both GPUs. Standard with this GPU will be 256MB of GDDR3. The power consumption is quoted as pulling 82W under max power." Fall '06 NVIDIA GPU Refresh - Part …

  15. Hard-OCP - BFGTech GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB "At 320MB this video card has only 64MB more than a 256MB video card. That seems like a rather low amount for a video card in the $299-$329 range. Personally we would have been happier to see 512MB considering the price range. However, with the current way NVIDIA has their memory architecture setup on the video card they would have had to make major changes to the layout to make it 512MB. It was cheaper and easier just to cut the capacity directly in half from 640MB to 320MB. Thankfully NVIDIA decided not to cut stream processors, ROPs, memory bit-depth or even clock speed; when you add all of that up you are basically …
