B.Ob.
Hard-OCP - BFGTech GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB "At 320MB this video card has only 64MB more than a 256MB video card. That seems like a rather low amount for a video card in the $299-$329 range. Personally we would have been happier to see 512MB considering the price range. However, with the current way NVIDIA has their memory architecture setup on the video card they would have had to make major changes to the layout to make it 512MB. It was cheaper and easier just to cut the capacity directly in half from 640MB to 320MB. Thankfully NVIDIA decided not to cut stream processors, ROPs, memory bit-depth or even clock speed; when you add all of that up you are basically getting one heck of a deal with the GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB video card. It is at a cheaper price yet has the exact same shader, texture and memory bandwidth performance." PC Perspective - BFG Tech NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB Review "Since the launch of the GeForce 8800 line by NVIDIA in November of last year, it has been sitting on the performance crown quite comfortably with both the GTX and GTS models beating out the very top of the competing ATI graphics cards. But with the 8800 GTS cards selling for at least $390 for even the cheapest models, there is a noticeable gap in features and performance in the NVIDIA product lineup. NVIDIA is attempting to address this very gap with the new 320MB model of the 8800 GTS that features an expected MSRP of $299-329. Even better? This card is available today from several board vendors in both reference and overclocked speeds!"
