B.Ob.
Nvidia intros dual-GPU card Geforce 7950 GX2 "In some regards, it's like having two G71s (7900 GTX), but Nvidia has had to do some tweaking in order for both to work together within this form factor. Nevertheless, you're getting the benefits of 1 GB of GDDR3 memory (512 MB per GPU), plus a total of 48 pixel pipes and 16 vertex shaders, again divided among the two GPUs. But core clock speed is reduced a bit, from the 7900's 650 MHz to 500 MHz, with memory clock speed at 600 MHz. Yet the presence of two processors manages to boost total memory bandwidth from the 7900's 51.2 GB/sec to a formidable 78.6 GB/sec."
B.Ob.
XFX 7950GX2 570M XXX Edition Video Card "What truly is the beauty of the GX2 however hasn’t been mentioned yet, and that is that it will work with nearly any motherboard that has a 16x PCI-E slot. With this card you are no longer restricted to buying an NF4 SLI motherboard to get the performance of NVIDIA SLI. You also don’t need an SLI bridge for this card as NVIDIA has already taken care of that for us. Currently NVIDIA is validating motherboards and have compiled a list of those compatible and the BIOS version it was tested with. Although our DFI NF4 SLI-DR was not on the list, performance was the same as that of an Asus A8R32-MVP. Yes, that is an ATI Xpress 3200 motherboard and yes it’s already on the list." B.Ob.
GeForce 7950 GX2 - SLI on a Single Card "So does the introduction of the GeForce 7950 GX2 mean that Quad SLI is coming to the mainstream enthusiast? Unfortunately the answer is no - at least, not yet. Nvidia feels that Quad SLI is still too complex a product to release to the public without the assistance of trained professional system integrators. To prove the point that this will be temporary, the GeForce 7950 GX2 has a single SLI bridge but we will not see retail support until Nvidia provides a driver that enables it. Until such time as Quad SLI is supported, this card is being positioned by Nvidia as the fastest single PCI Express solution on the market." B.Ob.
Quad SLI - GeForce 7950 GX2 Squared! "Well we've just shown you in our last article exactly how powerful the GeForce 7950 GX2 can be and what's it made of. We also shared with you that even though the GeForce 7950 GX2 ships with the SLI gold finger connector at top of the card, the current driver version officially supporting this new SKU (ForceWare version 91.29) does not support SLI – thus disallowing Quad SLI capability (pairing another GeForce 7950 GX2). However, a previous driver version did have all the correct ID strings that matched that of a GeForce 7950 GX2 and we found out that this version still had SLI support available for all cards. Loaded with the 91.27 driver version and the GeForce 7950 GX2, here's how the system identified the card:"
