  1. Download Was released yesterday and no release notes yet as they are normally on the SDK package, which has not been published yet.. Only thing I found was on the August 2007 release notes "The November 2007 release of the DirectX SDK will contain an updated version of dxguid.lib that only includes the following components and associated classes: DirectXFile, DirectDraw, DirectInput, DirectSound, DxDiagProvider, XACT, D3D10, D3DX9, D3DX10, DXGI, D3D9, and D3DX9Ex."

DirectX Next Early Preview Definately worth the read. Here's a slice: "Applications consuming inane amounts of memory might not achieve the most optimal frame rates, but they will at least work. Virtual address spaces need not be small, either – 3Dlabs' Wildcat VP uses virtual video memory and has a virtual address space of 16GB. Clearly, resources cease to be all that limited when you can consume 16GB of them."

Direct X 10 Briefing "Much smaller overhead per object which means that more objects can be utilised, making games more interesting and more fun to explore and interact with. One thing to note: If the same game was coded to run on both DX9 and DX10 there would be around a 20% performance increase just from the fact the overhead is lower in DX10."

Display port pictured "This year will be the year of Display port, the new VESA digital display interface. It is a licence free audio and video connection and will be used mainly as a connection between the display and the computer or the computer and a home entertainment system. It wont be natively compatible with HDMI or DVI, but there will be a workaround to make it work, much like DVI can be connected to an HDMI or D-Sub display. This is what it looks like and everyone including Nvidia, ATI and Intel will go down the Display port road in 2008."

How To: Make a PCI Express Power Connector "As highlighted above, this top section is perfect. Hacking a PSU apart is not the best solution for everyone, but if you are like us you will probably have a dead PSU lying around somewhere. We found the best way to separate the top three pins is to use a hack saw. If you cut from the pin side and angle away from the top three, you have less chance of cutting into the pins you need. A quick clean up with a file or sharp knife will give us an appropriate plug."

Upgrade your UPS! "Something as beautiful as my original DIY UPS would, of course, be cheap at any price, but the thing itself didn't cost me much. I had almost all of the bits sitting around already, and a local battery place gwwwwwwwwwave me the slightly used fancy battery."
