Valve boss blows a gasket over PS3 “The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It’s really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted,” said Newell. “I’d say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a ‘do over’. Just say, ‘This was a horrible disaster and we’re sorry and we’re going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it.’” Newell reserved special praise for the Wii, which he said would outsell Microsoft’s Xbox 360 by next Christmas.

I have to say that I've been very upset with Sony in the way they've been handling the PS3 with it's obnoxious price-point & was only too happy to see this announcement... Sony considers a PS3 pricecut The best part is, I've been expecting this to happen, so I'm only to happy to hear about this. If Sony does "suck it up" & lowers their price on the PS3, then they'll be able to get back into the game. As it is, they aren't moving the units they thought they would & most of them are collecting dust @ Retailers while the other consoles are selling like crazy. Is Sony going to learn from this?? -- Nem

PS3 Home Details, Beta & Launch Dates Home was actually born on the PlayStation 2, as "a very simple 3D lobby system that could connect a bunch of [PS2] games together". Then they realised the power of it, and thought: "actually this should be a platform initiative and this is something we should bring to all PlayStation 3 games and all PlayStation 3 users".

Particularly in Blu-ray playback, we've personally been greeted with the 'Your PlayStation 3 is too hot. Please shut down.' warning on many occasions. Firmware 1.9 released for PS3 "Sony Computer Entertainment has made firmware 1.9 available for the PS3, bringing several usability enhancements to the console. Most basic among these, users are now able to set a custom background as a replacement for the default gossamer animation. Additional cross-media bar (XMB) related improvements include the ability to organize the ordering of games/demos, eject discs from within the XMB, and an enhanced folder system."
