PearPC 0.1 "Of course everything was not running very snappy; on their website they warn you: the emulated processor is about 40 times slower than the host processor. Still, I was amazed at what I saw: it worked!"

Well, Intel announced the Pentium 4 Extreme with 2 Meg of L3 cache on the die (which means it keeps the 512k L2 it already had!!) Although I find it odd that it still uses a few transitors less than its replacement in the Prescott. Sounds like they are afraid of the Athlon 64!!! Read more here

  9. AMD's Phenom Unveiled: A Somber Farewell to K8 "Two more quad-core Phenoms will come out in Q1: the 9900 and 9700, clocked at 2.6GHz and 2.4GHz respectively. The Phenom 9900 will be priced below $350 while the 9700 will be a sub-$300 part. As you can probably guess, the introduction of those two will push down the pricing of the 9600 and 9500, which will help Phenom be a bit more competitive. It's worth mentioning that in the 11th hour AMD decided to introduce a multiplier-unlocked version of the Phenom 9600 sometime this year that will be priced at the same $283 mark. Whether or not it's called a Black Edition is yet to be determined." Phenom 9700, AMD's 1st Qu…

Phenom FX and X4 line-up unveiled "The Agena will launch in a few iterations and it will be known as Phenom X4 9xxx. The slowest one works at 2.2GHz, the mid-range one is a 2.4GHz part and the top of the range model will tick at 2.6GHz. Again, faster parts are planned for 2008." K10 to be cheaper than Core 2 Quad "Our well informed sources have suggested that clock to clock AMD CPU will be cheaper than Intel’s 45 nanometre quad core parts. This is AMDs only chance to get the face back and we can only hope that AMD will be better in clock per clock battle, of course for fallen AMD’s sake."

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2009...-ii-to-6-5ghz/1 By pushing the core temperature down to a nippy -232 degrees Celsius – that's 41.15 Kelvin, or just a handful of degrees above Absolute Zero – the team were able to tweak the processor to run at an FSB of 280MHz and a multiplier of 22.5, giving a whopping 6.3GHz speed across all four cores. This rather impressive feat allowed Team Finland – and AMD, of course – to snatch the world record for benchmarking suite 3DMark 05 with a mind-boggling top score of 45,474.

  15. Photoshop to get GPU and physics acceleration "GPU acceleration is one of the most significant trends in today hardware industry, opening the doors to an entirely class of software running desktop. What will be possible is fascinating to see on a monitor, nut it is not tangible, if you just hear about it. It appears that the next Photoshop will be one of the first mainstream applications that will tap into the GPU for a speed up. And, at least from what we have seen during a first demonstration, the progress is simply stunning."
