  8. Here's a couple of reviews I ran across, It's great to see a new soundcard with dolby digital live! One of my biggest complaints about moving to the Athlon 64 platform is the lost of my nvidia soundstorm MCP sound. While I have an audigy2 zs which has been good but never really compared to the dobly digital live sound from the digital output of the soundstorm for games, music and movies. I have the same speaker setup as B.ob. the logitech z680's and have ordered one of these soundcards(which should be in tomorrow and i will update with my impressions). Oh in the first review they complain about 2 driver bugs which have already been fixed with driver updates. Also there's …

  9. ULi M1695 PCIe/AGP Socket 939 for Athlon 64 "Just a month after the Computex launch, ULi has provided a Reference Board for their new chipset based on the M1695 coupled with a M1567 South Bridge. This combination is significant because it provides a full x16 PCIe video slot with an AGP 8X slot. ULi tells us that this is a full-performance AGP slot without compromise. We have seen others try to provide AGP support (ECS, Biostar) on a PCIe board by deriving the AGP from PCI, but these solutions were 50 to 60% the performance of a true 8X AGP, negating much of the reason for the AGP slot. This ULi solution, however, is a full-performance AGP 8X, combined with a full-perf…

  12. nForce 4 SLI X16: Full Speed PCI Express "Ever since its launch in the fall of last year, nForce 4 has brought us SLI capability. Configurations for PCI Express slots in nForce 4 SLI motherboards must be selected by using a paddle that can be flipped to allow for either 2 x8 connections or full bandwidth for one with the other disabled. There is added flexibility on an nForce 4 SLI motherboard, but this flexibility comes with some limitations. Today, NVIDIA sheds the shackles of the paddle selector and limited bandwidth with the new nForce 4 SLI X16 chipset."

X-Fi and the Elite Pro: SoundBlaster's Return to Greatness "The only thing that we would really like to see that we don't is Dolby Digital Live (realtime Dolby 5.1 encoding for output over SPDIF to a receiver). With all the processing power available, there is no excuse for not supporting this feature, yet we have seen no mention of it from Creative. Dolby Digital Live may not be as hot a topic as it was back when NVIDIA supported the feature in their onboard SoundStorm audio solution, but we would still like to see it added for completeness (especially when even Intel's onboard solution can handle it)."

ATI Crossfire at Beyond3D ATI's X8xx CrossFire Graphics Arrive at Anandtech "The Crossfire system in its current implementation does have a number of positive points though. For one, when the system was fully set up its stability seemed to be very good, with no issues under Windows and very good compatibility, without any rendering issues, on all the applications tested here - even the smaller test applications worked flawlessly. The software and control side seemed to be fairly good, with the Crossfire just being enabled in Catalyst Control Centre without needing a reboot for like-for-like board configurations and the Super AA mode already integrated into the FSAA s…
