nForce 4 SLI X16: Full Speed PCI Express "Ever since its launch in the fall of last year, nForce 4 has brought us SLI capability. Configurations for PCI Express slots in nForce 4 SLI motherboards must be selected by using a paddle that can be flipped to allow for either 2 x8 connections or full bandwidth for one with the other disabled. There is added flexibility on an nForce 4 SLI motherboard, but this flexibility comes with some limitations. Today, NVIDIA sheds the shackles of the paddle selector and limited bandwidth with the new nForce 4 SLI X16 chipset."

Tyan unveils nForce Pro mobos "The workstation-oriented Tyan Thunder K8WE (S2985) family will ship in both 2050 and 2200-based versions, targeting dual Athlon 64/64-FX and Opteron CPUs, respectively. The boards provide two PCI Express x16 slots ready for SLI-configured graphics cards. They support registered 400MHz DDR SDRAM, PCI-X support in addition to PCI-E, dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, built-in FireWire, USB 2.0, and Serial ATA-II with Nvidia's RAID sub-system."

Looks like nVidia is back in the high-end chipset game with their new nForce3 250Gb chipset for the Athlon64!! Here is a blurb from AnandTech.com: "nVidia is very proud of their on-chip implementation of Gigabit LAN. The concept is very similar to Intel's CSA bus, which was introduced with the Intel 875 chipset, in that it moves communications off the slower PCI to a faster bus. However, nVidia carries the concept even further by implementing their Gigabit LAN on the single-chip nForce3-250GB. This removes the 1Gb LAN from all buses and allows performance at the internal speed of the chip." ~~drool~~ "nVidia has tried to address these types of security risks wit…

nForce 4 board pictured "We are proud to share one of the first pictures of MSI Nforce 4 motherboard. You will notice that board has only one chip covered with active cooler, PCIe 16X slot and two PCIe 1X slots, four PCI slots where one is possibly 266 MB/s fast, four memory slots, marvels eight SATA ports four of them controlled or helped by silicon image chip. The board still has two IDE channels and a floppy connector. A Via chip in front of PCIe 16X slot was one of the things that created a nice smile on my face. What an irony."

Need for Speed Carbon First Look "This year's game is an ambitious expansion of the key features that have made the series popular with new elements that have come out of the team's research into the racing scene. The big hooks this year are canyon racing, racing crews, and car class affiliation. The heart of the game's career mode is a battle for control of a city. The game's setting is a massive free roaming metropolis that's bigger than the one seen in last year's Most Wanted. In addition, you'll find massive canyons that will serve as the stage for the unique boss battles. The action in the game will find you building up a crew of racers to help you take over the …

Though it might be time to start one of these topics. My useless Viper, who would have guessed the car is completely useless just like in real life. Mustang, just had to have one but never use it. Dragon

Need for Speed: Most Wanted Tweak Guide "To start with, NFS:MW returns to the "Hot Pursuit" formula of incorporating wild police chases, but takes it further by giving you much more freedom to pretty much go anywhere you want to - through paddocks, motel courtyards, golf courses, petrol stations and just about anywhere else. It also has various pursuit modes, not just a straight chase down the highway. For the street racers, it includes tuning elements from Underground, and other similar themes to suit the genre. For the original NFS purists, there are lap races over set tracks, and of course thankfully there is an option to turn off that damn "Catchup mode" which dro…

Need For Speed Underground 2: First Look "In the demo, the team's developers went straight to the point. Using streaming technology to create a massive living, breathing city (like Rockstar's Midnight Club series), NFSU2 is a massive, five-neighborhood metropolis, offering a huge amount of exploration to the tune of 200 km of cityscape to drive through (as opposed to the 40 km for NFSU)."
