Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital Edition "On the following page you will find information and pictures of the TripleHead2Go Digital Edition module. We will then explore the drivers and gaming utility software. We want to know if the built in profiles work and if we can use newer games with the module where a profile is not yet present in the software. The software allows customization of new game titles so we will explore this. We then intend to test many games in a triple-display configuration with plenty of screenshots. We will also figure out what the best video card is for the job running at 3840x1024 and if SLI really works or not with triple displays. Read on." …

Like Mother Nature, AMD has a dark side — and on September 25, 2007 it will be revealed to the world. Hmmm, any guesses?!? (Although that was the original date for the Crysis demo that got delayed a month.)

Display port pictured "This year will be the year of Display port, the new VESA digital display interface. It is a licence free audio and video connection and will be used mainly as a connection between the display and the computer or the computer and a home entertainment system. It wont be natively compatible with HDMI or DVI, but there will be a workaround to make it work, much like DVI can be connected to an HDMI or D-Sub display. This is what it looks like and everyone including Nvidia, ATI and Intel will go down the Display port road in 2008."

AMD announces Barcelona quad-core processor "AMD today announced what the company calls the "most advanced x86 processor) as well as the first "native quad-core processor". Code-named Barcelona, the quad-core Opteron will be shipping in server systems this month. The core technology of the new CPU will also surface in AMD's Phenom processor for desktop systems in December. The new quad-core processor carries AMD's promise of the return of the firm's competitiveness in CPU performance. Like the original Opteron CPU in 2003, AMD introduces the core of the technology in the higher-margin server segment first with plans to extend it to the desktop within a few months.…

Ageia Tests Next-Generation PhysX Accelerators "A web-site has published photos of what it claims to be a next-generation Ageia PhysX physics processing add-in-card. The board seems to be rather huge, while the revamped physics processing unit (PPU) also seems to be large, which implies that the new board will be rather powerful. The new Ageia PhysX card is designed for PCI Express x8/x16 slots and is much longer compared to the first incarnation of physics accelerator for personal computers and also has much more complex print-circuit board design. The new board also has external power connector, which indicates that the card has pretty high power consumption. Be…

Ultra X3 1600w Power Supply "Now interestingly enough, the packaging for the X3 1600w does not carry any multi-graphics card certifications, and none are mentioned in the manual or on Ultra’s product page. So a quick check of the SLIZone page and ATI CrossFire page were in order, but they too yielded nothing. As this product is relatively new and is not being launched with lots of press it could be that it hasn’t been submitted for certification yet. With hat all said the X3 1600w is billed as a single 12v rail 1600w power supply and if it can do all it is billed to, it will run any SLI or Crossfire setup going. Period."

From /. AMD Finally Launches Low-Price DX10 Cards http://hardware.slashdot.org/ "The Radeon 'R600' HD 2900 XT was late coming, and so by extension are the lower cost parts derived from it. The Radeon HD 2400 and 2600s are now available, just the same, with pricing aimed at knocking mid-range GeForce 8 series cards off people's shopping lists. There's more to a graphics card than price; performance and driver functionality are key too. HEXUS had some fun and games testing the new Radeons: 'The hardware designers may now be sitting back, content that their DX10-supporting midrange SKUs are at least as compelling as the competition's. But, and it's a big, big but…

Tyan readies new mobos, quad-core ready PSC "One of Tyan's major showpieces at Computex was the S4980, a motherboard that manages to squeeze four 1207-pin Opteron sockets and 16 DIMM slots into an Extended ATX form factor. As one might imagine, Tyan did cut some corners (literally) to be able to fit four Opterons in an EATX mobo. The board is only outfitted with one expansion slot—PCI Express x16—and it has "only" six Serial ATA ports. The S4980 is largely aimed at cluster systems, Tyan says."
