Conan4Life
ok was catching up on new hardware archutecture and cant find this... The AM2 motherboards im finding all say the memory they use are ddr2 800, can someone plug in something like ddr2 1100 in the same place and would it work? (theory keeping the memory speed in sync or faster than the FSB) To my techinical memory putting faster memory into a slower slot should work just want a definant answer. B.Ob.
Yep, it will work fine!! AMD chips were decoupled from the mem speed a while back. Intel Core 2 Duo is the same!! Which gives you the option to run the mem at a slower speed and lower CAS, or higher speed.

B.Ob.
Intertesting case and p/s selection!! Only thing I can think of I would change would be the cpu hsf, Thermaltake CL-P0310 120mm CPU Cooling Fan, although we don't run the stock fan on it. Both the wifey(not OC'd) and I (WAY OC'd) have it on our main rigs with an Antec tri-speed 120mm fan.

B.Ob.
If your into OC'n, you'd be lucky to get 400+Mhz extra off the AMD chip (at least up at 3ghz), The Intel Core Duo 2 are nutty OCable, even on stock cooling. Although from prices and such, looks like AMD still has a slightly higher bang per buck if not OC'd. My stepson's E6600 (2.4) seems to be (just based on WCG results) under the performance of my Opty 170 (at 2.8).
