Video RAM - how much do you really need?

 

"Ah, the good old days of 4MB of EDO DRAM. Amazing that ten years of development have made it utterly useless - the main menu screen of Crysis needs 20x that amount of VRAM alone."

I started playing the first Tomb Raider on a 2Mb Trident card and it was like night and day when I went to a 4Mb S3 ViRGE/DX and then for Tomb Radier 2 I switched to a 8Mb Number 9 Revolution 3D AGP card. :harhar:

yea my first pc had 640k onboard video memory with 1mb of ram and running MS-DOS 3....i loved it...lol

 

 

hahha, my first PC "Holds the distinction of being the first 16-bit personal computer" and ran at 3.3 Mhz, which only had for video 16K of mem.
