PurSuiT
Always a good sign right? In mid-April, SP1 will automatically download and install on Windows Vista–based PCs that have automatic updating turned on. This is the easiest and most convenient way to update a Windows Vista–based PC, and we strongly encourage using this method. You can, however, download and install Windows Vista SP1 manually from the Microsoft Download Center.

B.Ob.
Alex St. John: "Vista Blows" ET: Okay, I want to loop back to the technical side for one more question. Sweeney mentioned that he feels that DirectX 10 is the last graphics API that is truly relevant to gamers. Do you see DirectX 10 as a viable gaming platform, and what do you see happening with hardware access to games in the next five years or so? ASJ: There are several, complex answers to this. First, Vista blows. DirectX came with it. ET: Yeah, you can't get DirectX 10 without Vista. ASJ: Yeah, exactly. Part of the problem is, I think, that developers over Vista-ness including the inexperience with DirectX 10, may have some disappointment trying to make games for that operating system. But there's a lot of things with gaming and Vista that you just want to slap Microsoft and go, "What the hell were you thinking?"

NVIDIA's Drivers Caused 28.8% Of Vista Crashes In 2007 "NVIDIA had significant problems when it came time to transition its shiny, new G80 architecture from Windows XP to Windows Vista. The company's first G80-compatible Vista driver ended up being delayed from December to the end of January, and even then was available only as a beta download. In this case, full compatibility and stability did not come quickly, and the Internet is scattered with reports detailing graphics driver issues when using G80 processors for the entirely of 2007. There was always a question, however, of whether or not the problems were really that bad, or if reporting bias was painting a more negative picture of the current situation than what was actually occurring."
