B.Ob.
More of just kind of a log of my adventures with the new system. It will probably require a few posts on my part to start making sense.... Most know I have put a new system together. It appears it is still not quite 100% stable yet. here is a run down of the parts: Processor: AMD Athlon Opteron 170 Denmark Memory: 2x 1024MB Corsair DDR-550 Motherboard: DFI LanParty UT RDX200 CF-DR Hard Disk: 150G Western Digital Raptor 10,000RPM 16Meg cache, 400G Western Digital 7200rpm 16meg cache (not attached yet) Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon x1900XTX 512 Sound card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music Power Supply: Antec TrueBlue 2.0 480w Optical: Plextor PX-716a CPU cooling: ThermalTake Big Typhoon cpu OC'd from 2.0Ghz to 2.9Ghz video card OC'd from 650/775 to 679/798 mem running at 145MHz CL2 Temps: CPU - 42C PWM - 44C Chipset - 44C Seti keeps the CPU at 100% load all the time When running an intense game, everything tops out at 45C across all three. Appear to run fine: UT2k4, 3dMark01, 05, 06, FEAR, BOINC/Seti@Home 24/7, SiN: Emergence, Quake 4 Seem to find issues with: 3dMark03, HL2: Lost Coast Changes made so far: - hooked up 4-pin power connector by master 16x pci-e slot  - put vid card back to stock speeds - put cpu down to 2.8GHz
Buckett
Did knocking the OC down a bit help Star Wars load? It's on next month's Frag Shack game list again, and we're pretty antsy to play it....hehehe
ParoxysM
U can push it harder than that...especially the vid!!
B.Ob.
Did knocking the OC down a bit help Star Wars load? It's on next month's Frag Shack game list again, and we're pretty antsy to play it....hehehe I actually uninstalled SW: BF2, as I wanted to stick to games that I play more often for the time being. Although I meant to look that problem up online and see if it could be a problem with the original (unpatched) version of the game. 1.1 patch for swbf2 resolved: - Resolved various stability issues associated with multiple hardware configurations. - Increased stability for both Singleplayer and Multiplayer portions of the game. - Improved stability for computers using Dual-Core CPUs with NVIDIA GeForce 6 or GeForce 7 graphics cards. Please check the NVIDIA website for future driver updates which may resolve any existing issues. U can push it harder than that...especially the vid!! Yeah, I want to get it completly stable before pushing on things harder. Actually, the mem is way UNDER-clocked at this point, and could be part of the problem, as my problem is not affecting every program. Edited June 2, 2006 by B.Ob. ParoxysM
What speeds are you running your 1900xtx now? You use CCC or Atitool?
B.Ob.
What speeds are you running your 1900xtx now? You use CCC or Atitool? I'm running stock speed on the 1900XTX currently. With the recent speed boost in Doom3/Quake4/Prey, and rumor'd other speed boosts in the 6.9 beta cats, so if I do anything, I will use CCC to OC it. ParoxysM
The reason I asked (dunno if you noticed the change in my sig) is I obtained a 1900xtx. I benched @ stocked speeds and with a decent overclock, and it sux in 3dmark compared to my old card (1800xt). 3dmark2k6 - up 21% 3dmark2k1 - down 4% The cards are basically the same hardware with the 1900xtx having .1 ns faster RAM. The difference I notice is in games (which is what matters anyways). I benched FEAR before/after swapping cards: 1800xt - 45/85/121 1900xtx - 80/125/212 (stock) 650/775 1900xtx - 85/127/228 (oc'd) 689/
B.Ob.
Ah, ok, cool!! Yeah, I assumed my poor showing in the earlier 3dmarks I just assumed was cause of my under clocked mem. Which it still is under clocked sadly. We can compare notes perhaps a bit better Sat if you can stop by for a bit. As I recall, the diff between the 1800 and 1900 was only just the # of shader pipes.
