B.Ob.
Community Update - 4/25/06 (1.3 preview) Although the 1.3 patch is still being worked on we wanted to provide a peek at what you can expect with the coming release: NEW FEATURES Co-op: Co-op Mode allows you to play Single Player levels on the Internet and LAN with both AI controlled bots and human players. Several new options have been created that will allow the server creator to modify how the bots behave in game. Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location. BUG FIXES & GAME PLAY TWEAKS Prevented ban list from being cleared in the event of a server crash. Fixed issue with players not properly ranking up on servers where they continuously play. Fixed bug where friendly vehicles show up as valid targets. Friendly Vehicle lock: Lock-on weapons do not lock on to friendly vehicles. The box with an X through it will still appear, but a lock tone will not sound and then if fired, the missile will not track the friendly target. Keep in mind this is only a part of what 1.3 will include. Our live team is working diligently to provide the best update possible in preparation for the release of the Armored Fury booster pack! B.Ob.
Also available straight from the man here: http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/BF2/ Also... Wake Island 2007 "That's right, the 1.03 update bundles the first official map release from EA and DICE. In this case the map is a modern-era update of one of the most popular maps from Battlefield 1942 -- Wake Island. The People's Liberation Army has invaded Wake to threaten American supply lines. In response the US Marine Corps has been dispatched to reclaim the island. Pick a side and fight to win!"
WarSpartan
Wheres our ranked server ! LOL I dl'ed it but havent fired it up yet. Im hoping that the bot play is allowed on the large maps not just the small. Will make for some crazy fun lan games. :cheer:
Dragon
I never liked playing with bots at a lan. I like to know if I'm capping someone's ass that its someone in the room. Dragon
WarSpartan
Yes I agree however - getting 20-60 people playing together at a LAN never happens, and you need the bigger maps to get the all the air and ground vehicles, and having 6-8 people playing on a 32-64 map is anemic at best. With the bots my thinking is this. If you dont have 10-12 to play in the game you run bots, then split the players you do have between the 2 teams. So if you had 8 players at the lan for example, then theres 4 each team with the rest being bots. That way the bigger maps have a lot more action rolling all over the whole map instead of guys just playing flag tag around the map. Im thinking for smaller LAN's and in situations where we want to play but theres not enough to make a 32 or 64 player map worthwhile the bots will be a worthy addition to make the overall rounds more exciting and interesting. I personally dont mind 16 player maps, but its rare someone puts one up at the lans. Everyone wants all the toys. So the bots are a great way to play without having the maps filled up with all humans.
ParoxysM
Bots are weak and predictable...that's why I like them.
