B.Ob. just figured if you wanted more gigabit connections for the LAN, not sure how many people are using gigabit now but just wanted to offer the extra ports and bandwidth if needed. Dragon I don't know the specs of your server but mine is pretty crazy, I was able to sell off a couple of old systems and get some pretty hooked stuff for my server, hell even if I brought it some one could use it to game on, Athlon64 3200+, 1 gig pc3200 ram, 9800se(refrubed), broadcom gigabit NIC, 2x160gb seagate sata drives(raid 0) I use it as a file server/game server/ dvd burning system and Game system if someone comes over and wants to play something. It can handle just about anything you throw at without batting an eye, I only have to reboot every other week or so, it has been running super stable.

Yeah I have to agree with B.Ob. the game industry is getting pretty bad, first interplay shut down and acclaim both pretty big companies. I'm just downloading to check games out and if I like I try to buy. But I usually try to wait till a game is on sale for $30 bucks or less, Doom 3 is the most I spent on a game in a long time and HL 2 will be another that I'll get no matter what.

Yeah, we'll have to do something special . Dragon I'm all clear for that weekend, and I'd be happy just getting to play some BF1942 on my B-day(I'm pretty easy to please). Oh B.Ob. if you want I can try to come earlier and bring my server box too. Not sure if it will be needed but it wouldn't be much hassle to bring it with me. I already have some D- servers downloaded for it and it does have a gigabit NIC in it also, I also have an 8 port SMC gigabit switch if needed too. plus on a side note I ended up with 2 extra gigabit NICs (zonanet) descent cards they have support for jumbo frames and if anyone was interested I'd sell them for $10/each(paid $17 but now they are just sitting here unused).

I don't even think I looked at the extra dvd that came with my UT2k4 spec. edt. most of the time spec. edt. aren't worth the extra loot. It would be cool if they had extra game content like maps, mods, mod tools, or gameplay modes.

I seen some cool CCFL's at massiveLAN white that were like a lightning effect to them, not sparks but close. I'll have to look around and see if i can find something like that. Very cool looking stuff, I'm not so much into the flashing lights anymore been doing the UV reactive stuff now. It seems the only thing I really spend my money on is my computer, it's what I spend the most time playing around with anyways. :dork:

Yeah I can't wait till LAN(oct 2nd) found that modular PS that ParoxysM posted at zipzoomfly for $99.99 w/free 2nd day air and you can fax the invoice to the company and they send you the sata power cables for free, Sweet. And I'm pimping out my case with that and some other mods I'm doing and it should look sweet. :bump:

There is also this one http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-163-018&depa=0 I'm using this with no problems 580w cool looking and cheap as hell. Some people have had problems(looking at the reviews) but it's running my 6800gt athlon 64 3400+, 2x 160gb sata drives, dvd & cd-burner, 3 80mm fans, and 2 CCFL with nothing going wrong yet and I've had it about 2-3 months. I want that modular 500w PS soo bad but the thing that gets me it has no sata power connectors? stupid on there part, how can you make a new hooked PS and not include sata power, even most of the new cheap PSs have sata on them.

Pretty cool, but no one carries them in the US yet. They are pretty expensive too, for just thumb screws.

Not sure who would use microsoft's piece of Sh*t firewall anyways, that's the first thing I shut off after installing SP2.

I would go with at least a 400w PS by a descent manufacter http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc....-153-006&DEPA=0 not a good mod PS but if you don't have a window it shouldn't matter a thermaltake 420w silent pure power for $38 w /free shipping can't beat that price. I'm a huge ATI fan but I recently got the Evga 6800GT and love it!!!!! I was using a 9700pro and it almost doubled my performance acrossed the board. And I have to say the drivers are alot better than ati's, This is the first nvidia card I used since the geforce 2 gts and couldn't be happier with it. The x800 pro does a little better with AA and AF at very high rez's(1600x1200) but otherwise the 6800 usually beats it, I did I small write up of preformance in the video card & cpu section http://ww2.wnygamersclub.com:8081/members/...ct=ST&f=3&t=409 plus I'm using newer drivers 61.77 which have better preformance and stablity. Either way x800pro or 6800gt you can't go wrong both are excellent cards. By the way Doom 3 runs like butter at 1280x1024 @ high quality settings with this card, I'm gonna try doing a more complete review of this card in the next couple of days, hopefully I have alot of other stuff to get done first.

It should be ok with what I have, 9700pro isn't that far off from a 9800pro. a 5900 or 5700 would be sweet to have a mid to high range nvidia card the 5200ultra is pretty weak. But still a nice range of cards to get a descent judge of preformance. Thanx though!

Sorry I haven't had my server up the last week or so, I had a HD fail and waiting to get replacement drive to get system going again hopefully by monday. I do have everyone's server vault charaters backed up so nothing was lost, But a pain in the ass none the less. Soon the dungeons will be open again, But i think I want to have it running only on certain days to try to get more people on together at the same time. Any one have certain days that they would like? was thinking at least 3 days a week but not sure which days. It's open for suggestions. Bobsbrat it could be update or maybe the need for an exp. pack if you don't have all of them installed, there is also the CEP community expansion pack.

Yeah I'm gonna try to redo my write up on my 6800 gt into a full blown review, A little bit of a pain but will try to do some photos and I have a couple of video cards to bench it against right now which I'll be selling off soon(9700pro/9800se/5200ultra a good mix but wish I had a little more current card like a 9800xt or pro/5900/5950 but oh well gotta work with what I have). So I gotta do it soon, also bought a 4D steel mouse pad at massiveLAN that I could do a write up on, also the icemat I won. Also a belkin nostromo n52 pad.

yeah mozilla firefox rocks does everything I need, and haven't had 1 pop-up since I started using it. Plus I'm getting at least 75% less spyware than when I was using IE or any variant of IE like avantbrowser, myIE, etc. All the new viruses/worms and spyware target IE so I try not to use it unless I need too :vomit: **windows update** :flush:

I'd be down for that, as I have a alot of free time on my hands. But not sure what direction we could go with it and if we expanded it and got some stuff to review for free, even if we had to send it back to the company that sent it. But it sounds like a great idea, even if it's just new stuff people bought for there systems or new games or mods people are playing. We could also do drivers/patches/updates, I've always thought of doing something like this but really didn't know where to start and no where to post.

Yeah the issues with my Nic and the lag in windows(doesn't happen in Games) just started after I installed 9.0c nothing major. I'm not gonna reformat because of it, Most of it seems to be running a little better now that I installed SP2 and reinstalled Nic drivers for the 3rd time. But it really hasn't effected my preformance one way or the other, I just don't see it as a necessity for anyone until there's software to take advantage of it.

I've had some little annoying issues with this, some things just seem to lag. My gigabit NIC is acting a little weird and I've had UT2k4 crash on me once but not sure if it was direct x that caused it. I wouldn't recommend it until something actually needs it, I have a 6800gt and see no benifits to installing this at all. Stick to 9.0b! maybe by next year there will be something that makes use of it, unless Half Life 2 uses it but I doubt it, Or maybe if ubisoft ever rereleases 1.2 patch for FarCry fixed.

Hey paroxysm, aren't you still running win 95 osr 2? sorry just kidding! I was brave and put this on and have no problems so far Xfingers CrossedX. I tried IE for a little bit seems ok, but I think I'll stick with Mozilla Firefox. Most things in windows seem a little smoother and quicker. Alot of people complained that you have to turn on automatic updating but that's false you can leave it off it's just the new security center will come up with warnings if you leave it off same with the firewall and it will warn you if your anti-virus is out of date but you can shut off all warnings too. It's kinda of security for dummies For those people who aren't smart enough to do updates on there own. But if I run into any problems I'll post but like I said so far so good.

Yeah I use to play D&D but my friend who use to run the games moved to louisville KY, he still plays everyweek but I've always failed to get another group together to play, I'm not really a good DM plus with schedules it was impossible to get anyone together. But this looks like a lot of fun, they are suppose to start betas in the next couple of months so I'm hoping the game will be out before summer of next year, right now it just says release of 2005. Thieves are suppose to have the abilitity to climb walls like the old school rules so I can't wait to play one. I think this is the first MMORPG I'm actually stoked to play and willing to pay for. :dork:

yeah no screen shots at all but one thing I know is it's using the same engine as the first one just highly modified to take advantage of direct X 9.0 hardware so maybe it won't take as long as the first did to create. They won't have to create engine from ground up so hopefully it will be out in 2006. Maybe even early 2006, fingers crossed

I played on internet hosting a server with carcass also on adelphia and it played like butter, I think all people involved must have a good internet connection. So I think internet play isn't out of the question just for people on a slow connection. I'm willing to play a few rounds tonight or any other night to test but want to make sure everyone has a good connection. I want to try more than just 2 people. I will throw up a server tonight hopefully Name = YoMomma Password = blade, and just so everyone knows if you want to host a server it's port 27666 udp, it took me awhile to find port in forums, of course it wasn't listed in manual or Id's or activision's website. I don't understand why most companies don't make it a little easier to find that info out.
