ParoxysM
Comcast launches 50Mbps broadband... for $150 per month Comcast has been promising that DOCSIS 3.0 goodness would be coming to its customers this year, and the cable giant is about to make good. Starting tomorrow, Comcast's new "extreme high-speed" Internet tier will be available to subscribers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. Download speeds will top out at 50Mbps while uploads will be capped at 5Mbps. But all of that speed comes at a price: $149.95 per month for consumers. Geeks around the country have been salivating at the thought of 50Mbps downloads, and it's great to see such high speeds finally spreading beyond Verizon's FiOS network. The price is likely to be a deal-breaker for a lot of people.
DaPoets
most websites only upload at 1.5mps though.... the bottle neck isn't the download anymore, it's the senders upload. 50mps download and 5mps upload is very odd... I would rather have verizon's 20/20 over that....
B.Ob.
20/20 is certainly nice for the upload, and althou I hold upload more important than download, but 50M down is some nutty bandwidth for filesharing, etc.
PurSuiT
50Mb down just means they well throtle you down quicker when you use to much bandwith.
DaPoets
Yeah but 2 people on 20/20 will have a MUCH better file sharing experience than 2 people on 50/
