2004 ATI Enthusiast GPU Roadmap

R420 and R423 at the High End

 

- 0.13-micron low-k manufacturing process

- 160M transistors

- ~500MHz core clock

- 8 pipe design

- 6 vertex engines

- Improvements to all of the basic architectural features (shader engines, AA, etc...)

- 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 (~1GHz data rate)

- Single slot design

Its kinda interesting that it will have 2 additional vertex engines!! Its not like the 9800XT was a slouch in that department to begin with! I wonder if its for better Pixel Shader 3.0 performance. Plus an additional 100MHz GPU and an extra 250MHz memory bandwidth.....VROOOOM, VROOOOOM!! B)

 

On a side note, I see the 9600XT 128Meg going for like $151 on newegg and the 9800 PRO 128Meg for $215.

 

I sense the new lineup is almost here!!!

B.Ob., Newegg.com has the Radeon 9800 Pro w/ 256mb ddr2 for $313, which has been dropping in price quite steadily since Dragon & I began watching it. How I LOVE price drops when new stuff is being released B)

Ill worry about a vid card once my system starts to bottleneck...until then, MY FRAMES ROCK!!

I have a GF3 Ti200, so I'm bottlenecked.... B)
