Confirmed: No Unreal Tournament 2007 till 2007

"Now it appears that this year, Unreal fans will be feeling a sense of déjà vu vis-à-vis the latest installment in the series. Today, representatives for Midway Games, which took over Unreal publishing duties from Atari in July 2004, announced that Unreal Tournament 2007 will not be released in time for the 2006 holiday season."

post by Steve Polge regarding UT2007 Demo

"We currently have well over 40 maps in development. Some of those may be cut, but you should expect UT 2007 to ship with a comparable number of maps to past UT releases (UT2004, which had two games worth of maps excepted).

We are definitely planning to release a demo long enough before we go gold to be able to incorporate feedback from the demo into our final release."

Interview with Mark Rein

"One of the most exciting additions we've seen so far are the hover boards. How did you guys come up with those?

Mark Rein: Well one of the problems we found with UT2004 is if you died and accidentally spawned in a location where everybody had taken all the vehicles you ended up being stuck running as fast as you could on a fairly-long distance - you're out of the game for a long period of time and it's very hard to catch-up if somebody took-off in a vehicle, and we thought It'd be really nice if we could give people the ability to traverse areas of the map two-to-three times faster than they can now. It's not as fast as the Scorpion but it's a lot faster than running on foot."
