  1. Daniel_K, Who Fixed Creative's Broken Vista Drivers, Speaks Out The current situation DDL encoder and Crystalizer were not publicly released. I've deleted the P17 to Xtreme Audio mod and ALchemy from FileFront (where I store the files). I've been told they will allow me to continue with my mods, except the "forbidden" ones. I'm also allowed to receive donations. Download of my mods http://hosted.filefront.com/braziliantech/
  2. Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX Review - Toms Hardware.com "Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX: A card that's almost as fast as the 8800 Ultra at a much lower price is a good thing. But a year and a half after the release of the GeForce 8 series, and even though AMD doesn't really have anything that can go head to head with this card, we'd have liked a little more punch to replace the 8800 GTX with (which is also now being sold for under $400). What we got instead was a card that's very noisy under load and limited by a stingy 512 MB of memory. These drawbacks are especially disappointing given that the 8800 GTS 512 MB is very similar and less expensive." GeForce 9800 GTX and 3-way SLI: May the nForce Be With You - AnandTech.com "So, now that we have the 9800 GTX in the mix, what has changed? Honestly, not as much in terms of performance stack as in price. Yes, the 8800 Ultra is better than the 9800 GTX where memory bandwidth is a factor, but other than that the relationship of the 9800 GTX to the 3870X2 is largely the same. Of course, NVIDIA would never sell 8800 Ultra below the 3870X2 price of $400 (the binned 90nm G80 glued on there didn’t come cheap)." BFGTech GeForce 9800 GTX - HardOCP.com "It is also worth mentioning here that it is getting harder and harder to find valid game titles to push these high-end video cards. As you have likely seen on HardOCP, we now have $125 video cards that can play some of the latest games at 1920x1200 resolution. That is simply amazing. That also said, we are seeing fewer and few reasons to spend big bucks on video cards of an expensive nature. We keep seeing the rumors of AMD’s lacking competition causing NVIDIA to drag its feet when it comes to releasing next-gen technology, but you have to wonder what games we would we be playing on it if we had it today. Crysis was not good enough to play through another time. While some complain that we have not been showing enough games lately, we have to argue that showing you a bunch more all at max resolutions is not going to accomplish much either. The hardware is running well ahead of the software overall."

  4. Message to Daniel_K Daniel_K: We are aware that you have been assisting owners of our Creative sound cards for some time now, by providing unofficial driver packages for Vista that deliver more of the original functionality that was found in the equivalent XP packages for those sound cards. In principle we don't have a problem with you helping users in this way, so long as they understand that any driver packages you supply are not supported by Creative. Where we do have a problem is when technology and IP owned by Creative or other companies that Creative has licensed from, are made to run on other products for which they are not intended. We took action to remove your thread because, like you, Creative and its technology partners think it is only fair to be compensated for goods and services. The difference in this case is that we own the rights to the materials that you are distributing. By enabling our technology and IP to run on sound cards for which it was not originally offered or intended, you are in effect, stealing our goods. When you solicit donations for providing packages like this, you are profiting from something that you do not own. If we choose to develop and provide host-based processing features with certain sound cards and not others, that is a business decision that only we have the right to make. Although you say you have discontinued your practice of distributing unauthorized software packages for Creative sound cards we have seen evidence of them elsewhere along with donation requests from you. We also note in a recent post of yours on these forums, that you appear to be contemplating the release of further packages. To be clear, we are asking you to respect our legal rights in this matter and cease all further unauthorized distribution of our technology and IP. In addition we request that you observe our forum rules and respect our right to enforce those rules. If you are in any doubt as to what we would consider unacceptable then please request clarification through one of our forum moderators before posting. Creative just can't pull a winning moment out of their butt these days....
  5. A box of the first Voodoo card I owned, R.I.P.
  6. I have had no issue's and have had it installed for over a week now. No noticeable performance boost either, but then again I have a pretty high end rig right now. so far the same Stable is GOOD!!! NVIDIA's Drivers Caused 28.8% Of Vista Crashes In 2007 "NVIDIA had significant problems when it came time to transition its shiny, new G80 architecture from Windows XP to Windows Vista. The company's first G80-compatible Vista driver ended up being delayed from December to the end of January, and even then was available only as a beta download. In this case, full compatibility and stability did not come quickly, and the Internet is scattered with reports detailing graphics driver issues when using G80 processors for the entirely of 2007. There was always a question, however, of whether or not the problems were really that bad, or if reporting bias was painting a more negative picture of the current situation than what was actually occurring."
  7. Hmmm, odd. I know Dragon got some AC units quite a while back, but he doesn't have the AC badge.
  8. The downloadable content consists of three deadly arenas: Morbias, Facing Worlds and Searchlight. PC users can find the new content at www.unrealtournament3.com, while PS3 users can download it directly from the PlayStation Network. 12. I think that is just BOINC Seti stats. I have an impressive # of stats pre-Boinc for Seti also. Yes, esp since WCG has a Cancer project, which I'm kinda taking a greater liking to now! Enjoy your weekend!
  13. ASUS EAH3850 Trinity - three GPUs with one card We knew that CrossFireX would bring new multi-GPU setups, but we did not expect anyone to actually use more than two cores with a single card. ASUS proved us wrong, as EAH3850 Trinity is a tri-core card. It has three RV670 cores cooled by a heatpipe construction and a water block, all in a single card. The card is still just a concept and it hasn't been decided when or if it will be released, however we do know that it works. When benchmarks with the card will surface remains to be seen, but keep an eye open the upcoming weeks. Below are some pictures of the card, which makes at least our mouths water.
  14. Top 5 Botched PC Game Launches "And while it would be easy enough to fill this entire list at least two times over with MMOs alone, we decided not to do that, as it's just too much fish-in-the-barrel shooting even for us. So let's laugh, cry, and get annoyed all over again at five of the all-time worst PC game launches. We promise, reading this list will not automatically reformat your hard drive!"
  15. Alex St. John: "Vista Blows" ET: Okay, I want to loop back to the technical side for one more question. Sweeney mentioned that he feels that DirectX 10 is the last graphics API that is truly relevant to gamers. Do you see DirectX 10 as a viable gaming platform, and what do you see happening with hardware access to games in the next five years or so? ASJ: There are several, complex answers to this. First, Vista blows. DirectX came with it. ET: Yeah, you can't get DirectX 10 without Vista. ASJ: Yeah, exactly. Part of the problem is, I think, that developers over Vista-ness including the inexperience with DirectX 10, may have some disappointment trying to make games for that operating system. But there's a lot of things with gaming and Vista that you just want to slap Microsoft and go, "What the hell were you thinking?"

    NWN2 Patch 1.12

Neverwinter Nights 2 Patch 1.12 Released! Some of the change list: Multiplayer - Attempting to split an item stack that is no longer in the character's inventory will not crash the game. - On servers with Enforce Legal Characters turned on, characters that have swapped spells will no longer be considered invalid. - The Player List on the Neverwinter Eye menu is now accessible via the P key and can be remapped to other keys. - Bigby's Grasping Hand and Bigby's Crushing Hand spells will no longer crash the dedicated server. - The Dedicated Server Creator (to be released separate from the patch) will now properly prompt the user to include Mask of The Betrayer files. - Fixed an issue where the dedicated server would crash when hosting an MoTB game. - Transition Crashes: A new 'Shortcut Transitions=1' optional INI setting has been added for the dedicated server. The INI entry should go in nwn2player.ini under [server Options]. If added and set to true, a portion of the transition code will be bypassed. This will help with some of the timeouts people have run into, but will not resolve all issues. Further refinement of feedback will be gathered via the following Multiplayer fix (below). - Transition Crashes: Log files are being expanded to include additional information to help in narrowing down the issues related to multiplayer transition crashes. The log file, located in the root of the game install directory (with the name nwn2main - no extension) will regenerate each time the game crashes. - The Low-Light/Darkvision aura around the DM will no longer be visible to players in a Multiplayer game.

  18. Microsoft Finally Makes Things Right What exactly was in this mysterious box that Microsoft wanted him to enjoy? Not a letter or an answer as to why his artwork and autographs were erased, but instead plenty of other stuff to make up for their mistake. Included in Microsoft’s big box of goodies were : - 1 Xbox 360 console (signed by original RT signers, new artwork by Luke McKay, signatures from Xbox 360 team, additional signatures from Bungie Staff) - 1 Xbox 360 faceplate (signed by Bill Gates, among others) - Devil May Cry 4 - Lost Odyssey - Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - Gears of War - Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom - 2 ‘What’s Your Gamerscore?’ Bumperstickers - Xbox 360 CD Wallet - Signed picture of Bill Gates
  19. Youtube: Top 2007 winners You have spoken! Here are the videos that you voted to the top of the heap. Winners will get bragging rights, a trophy and a special invitation to an event later this year. Kinda odd an Instructional Rubik's Cube video is in the list....
  20. Well, the winner was someone from Chili with a score of 3. Too bad they didn't link the winning score, slackers!! It would have been nice if they had made it crystal clear whether just the video scores needed to be all run, or ALL the tests. *sigh* Oh well, it was still fun!!
  21. I just checked for giggles, and I have the African Climate badge also!!
