With the recent BF1942 bashing and so on, I think its time we get a little organized about these so called lan parties. I'm taking it apon myself to make sure we play little bit of everything, or at least something for everyone. I will make sure that come party time there will be enough copies of games so if someone doesn't have a game we're going to play, they can be up and running in no time. Instead of waiting for someone to make a copy for them. I'll make sure current patches and so on are on a couple cds so we're not killing someones' pc trying to get the files from him all at the same time(especially if the files are big). -->> { Like people leeching from Nemesis's PC alot of the night, Dragon?! } Dragon

Hey Nem, I don't think you'll have any problems playing it. The multiplayer runs well on my machine but it is only a beta. I should have the single-player demo within the hour and I'll let everyone know how its running. More links to demo Even more links Dragon

What do you suggest then? If BF "is way to played out," you'll have to say the same thing about UT, discounting the fact I don't think we've played it as a group for the last couple parties. I think BF has been good because it seems the playing field is pretty level, no one plays for 30 mins and has been killed 20 times and only killed 2 people. And we've all seen having to reload is killing Nemesis . I'd like to see us try some real different stuff like MechWarrior 3 even though I know I'm just pissing into the wind asking for that. I'd also like to see us get into AvP2 more or get back into JA. NFSU was nice but it broke us up into groups cause of only 4 per race. If you've checked out the Far Cry thread, I've got the multiplayer beta which we can give a swing at the next party for something new. What I've been thinking about and was thinking about it to BOB and Pursuit is if I could try and get the parties a little more organized. It would need to have all the lan party regulars to be on this wonderful forum of BOB's. What I'd like to do is get a list of every game that's playable and get a list that includes something for everyone. I'd make sure that there would be enough copies on cd so anyone that didn't have it could get it loaded up and playing right away. I did try with the DC mod but I couldn't get the 6 patch zipped and fit onto a cd with the 5f file. I felt it would have been pointless to zip the 500mb 5f file. That way everyone could grab it off a cd or shag it from someones' pc, as all as they were'nt playing the game. I don't know, just a pipe dream I guess, but I'd love to start organizing these parties a little. Dragon

Hey, I have my reason for sucking. Not playing the game for a month and instead playing Burnout 2 for GC you tend to get babied on the dumb down controls. Dragon

In case anyone is wondering, I got my oven mits on the multiplayer. No high textures, medium is as high as you can go and it still looks good. There's two ffa maps and an assult map. Something to try at the next party. Dragon

Well, like Pursuit said at the party, its a hack, so its not beautiful. We'll have to wait and see what EA does, if anything(we all know how wonderful they can be sometimes). Dragon

I think that with the number of people we had at this last one, defined teams would have worked out great. One side of the room against the other. The last couple BF maps we played, I spent the whole time trying to find Nemesis so we could team up and work together. Something we could work on at the next party *cough*Pursuit where are you*cough*. Everything you mentioned can be worked out if we had organized teams. The only real problem is with switching teams. It only a problem it the server is set to even teams. I had to join the Col and kill myself to switch sides to help Mind Bender when we first started playing BF. Just need to make sure even teams is turned off the server. I think Tking happens, it just shouldn't happen as much as it was. When I play BF online I live by the line Shoot first ask questions later. So I'm guilty of it too once in awhile. And there's not much you can do when you fire a tank round into a crowd of people and someone from your team happens to be in said crowd(learn to take one for the team and stop wihinning ). We'll just have to make sure everyone is straight on who the infidel is next time. Dragon

I agree. I was getting blasted from a certain person sitting to my left, *cough*Nemesis*cough*. Only once in a while it seemed though. Yeah, its a bit loud when you can hear your gun fire coming from someone's computer across the room. Dragon

This just in, Far Cry was just leaked, booooooooo! From what I've been reading it just the mutliplayer beta but still booooooooo! Dragon

Yeah, but I didn't see any Jedi so bah... Its just a reskined Battlefield. No better than the Galactic Conquest mod for Battlefield. Dragon

EA finally got the lan patch out I see. I haven't been paying much attention to it lately. I forgot to let you know Pursuit that I got a working copy of it too. Dragon

Now that's the first good reason to build a time machine I've heard in awhile. In other news, Gamespot.com has updated their preview of Far Cry and it looks like Ubi is set to release a single-player demo on Jan 21, next wednesday. If you'll excuse me I'm going to go crap my pants now. Dragon

There's a place online that I've been using for bulk media, if I can find the link(haven't had to get anything in awhile) I'll post it. They seem to have reasonable prices online. Local, I don't know. I'd have to say Best Buy or Compusa. Dragon

Well, you know Nem, id is just shooting themselves in the foot by holding on to Doom 3 for so long. Kind of like another game we all know and probably forgot about by now. You know, these companys need to set goals for themselves, " will have this game finished by the end of the year." Dragon

Way cool! I didn't know they were planning on adding any new maps with this patch. Now, what are the chances that it'll be out before Saturday. I'll just say it'll be here a month after they say they're releasing it. Dragon

Haven't tried it yet but from the ingame screens it might be the video card. Those models look like they were pulled right from Halo. My video card was dragging ass when we played Halo and I'm sure it'll do the same with this mod because of those high ploy models. Dragon

Hey, we can always wish and hope. You never know what will happen when the new cards come out. Prices could drop like a rock. We'll probably see more XGI cards out on the market and I'm sure that'll help a little in the price department. Especially if they get their driver act together. Dragon

Well, I don't know if I showed you the videos from the game Nem at the last lan party, which you can check out here but from the looks of it, its very understandable. I think their just looking to take care of all the bugs in multiplay with this beta anyway. I'm not surprised to see the GF 4 or 9x00pro cards on the list. I bet some people with GF3s and low 9000 cards could sqeak in there and play the game. I bet you and I could manage to get our cards to run the game decently. The Crytek engine is very efficient, better than anything we've seen so far in my opinion. Dragon
