Any LAN games need to be about a month old for the proper things to be in place to make it enjoyable for all.
FYI: If HL2 is anything like Doom3 I am going to be disappointed.
Yeah you need a least a couple of weeks to get everything set fot a LAN, But I do have all the stuff for Need for speed underground 2 needed to play for everyone, it also has LAN play built in so no need for funky clients and servers fixes. Bad thing is only 4 players like before but it does have a setting when setting up a game to even out cars so everyone would be on an even playing ground. And not much learning curve to a racing game(drive real fast and try not to hit anything
)FYI - I don't think Half Life 2 is gonna be a disappointment at all(unlike doom 3), plus with the collectors edition you get half life 1 remastered in the new source engine which will be awesome to play an old game that just about everyone knows the maps to and should be more of an even playing ground, I can't wait it should be awesome

AvP2 would definitely be cool to play again, not ONLY for the sheer satisfaction of launching a gernade into Dragon while he's clinging to the ceiling as an Alien & listening to his "dis-approval" BUT for the pure fun of "fragging" ellilion now as well. It's always nice to have a new "target" in that game :rotfl:

Yeah it sucks HL2, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines and WoW all come out at the same time or within a day of one another. Already bought HL2 but want Vampire and WoW too.
Hopefully there will be some good sales on Vampire or WoW. This is always a tough time for gamers money wise anyways too many games not enough money. NFS-Underground 2 comes out next week along with Halo 2. Demon Stone for xbox & PC the week after then Prince of Persia 2 warrior within at the end of the month. I'm glad some games got backed up till next year like Black and White 2, Battlefield 2 modern combat, SW- republic commando, SW- KotoR 2, Stalker, Dungeon Siege 2, Matrix Online, Starcraft Ghost,etc. -
Yeah this game looks like it's gonna be sweet as hell, I'm not even mad at them for delaying it till next year. As long as the game is as good as it looks I' have no problem waiting a couple of extra months

I can't wait, already got my coll. edition pre-ordered and paid for
My main reason for getting the coll. edition was it's on dvd instead of 6 cds and it comes with original Half Life remastered using source engine, yummy.

Well i picked 1)SW battlefront in the poll and the next 2 would be
2) Tribes vengeance
3) Mech Warrior or AvP 2 which ever I can find the easiest
I'm also trying to get hold of Men of Valor which looks pretty cool but not sure if I'll be able to get everything ready for everyone in time for LAN and it might suck big hairy gorilla butt.
but if i can i'll try and get everything together if it's good

yeah, sorry just wanted to bust dragon's chops abit, I think he went back alittle to far in the old games dept. i think a have mechwarrior 4 but not sure if I still have 3 lying around anywhere. I plan on having Tribes vengeance on my server plus I'll have all the stuff in case anyone needs it
that game should be REAL fun MP, I never cared for tribes but this new one is ALOT of fun!!!!!! Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to run the d-server for it!?! it's a beta and doesn't come with any directions on how to set up, it looks close to how halo d-server is set up with an .ini file which means it's abit of a pain w/no directions.my votes would be for some

what is this ode to the moldy oldies? :rotfl: half the games I'd have to be digging thru all my old stuff to find. No doom3 on that list or tribes vengeance. let me see if i can find descent 1 and diablo and throw those on my system too just in case

sorry but we are running out of time to do a descent poll depending on how many days you want to run it for. I would suggest 4-5 days so i would get it up in the next 2-3 days so that way you can give people 5-7 days warning on what games r gonna be played so everyone can get the games installed and patched.

Very cool, hope the mods r good. $5-8 isn't bad as long as they are descent length mods.

I agree Doom3 was a major disapointment for me.
Yeah, I should have saved the c@sh for Quake4.... Oh well.... HL2 is on its way!!
Quake 4?? Is there really a release date for this OR do we have another "Duke Nukem Forever" phantom game on our hands?!?!

I think it's slated for a 2005 release but they haven't set any kind of real date yet, so don't hold your breath :vomit:

Wow suprised 2 people not buying the sequel to one of the greastest games ever made?!?!?
I was kinda of pissed at vavle for the whole delay and steam stuff but now that it's right around the corner I'm stoked!!!!
Half Life is one of my alltime favorite games, should be alot better than doom 3 or halo 2.

I didn't run any benchmarking but it seems like it is playing alot smoother on my system without breaking anything like the 1.2 patch did so that's a plus

#1) computer, #2) car - I don't remember the last time i used my home stereo to listen to music, usually just movies/tv/xbox/ps2/gamecube are played thru my home stereo :popc:

I'll have to check out, I have 2 silicon image ide to sata adapters just lying around not being used. I have a pioneer 108 dvd-/+r/rw drive and an asus dvd-rom drive. I will post once i have a chance to check out.

Yeah I think they have some deal with microsoft because that's what the xbox uses for audio, and when they released the nforce2 boards they were still on friendly terms. But now they would probably have to pay mircosoft some money if they kept using it.
it's to bad it would have been nice for soundblaster to have some real competition. -
You get alot cleanier and richer sound, I had it hooked thru coaxial digital out on my old system with nforce2 board. Nforce2 soundstorm is the only soundcard that does 5.1 on everything thru digital, since I moved to athlon64 w/ horrible on board sound I bought a SB audigy 2 zs but the digital on the only does 5.1 on dvd movies and some games and I ended up just hooking it up thru the analog connections so i get 5.1 on everything it still sounds great but was better thru digital on the soundstorm. I wish nvidia would release the soundstorm as a seperate soundcard I would buy one in a minute.

Yeah these speakers rock! I bought my set about 5 months ago. They work the best if you have nforce2 soundstorm audio using the digital connection(optical or coaxial)

THX, I knew once people seen the game they'd get into it. Plus next time hopefully I'll be feeling alittle better and be able to drag my server around and have it set up as a d-server instead of playing and hosting on 1 machine. It was really nice to see pursuit at a LAN again. Well hopefully next LAN we will be playing some HL 2 or HL source
I can't wait!!!!!!
