  1. Top secret pic of Dragons finished PC
  2. "The Internet Is For..." ****Edited: Fixed PIC LINK****
  3. It is not the hardware that does not work, it is a software issue. Bad OS and game development, you read any of the above links? WindowsXP is designed to have control of the CPUs power management with no pretty GUI option like you are used too to turn it off. With dual cores and hyper-threading this is done within the chip. The symptoms are less pronounced on HT's as the 2nd CPU is just a virtual CPU that is really just using unused cycles from the first CPU. The patch seemed to fix the issue.
  4. Yes you are correct I am the only person you know with a x2, I do not think I am the only one with this issue in the world though, just found a 5 page thread about it on Anandtech Forums about a MS patch that does not get applied through windows updated from back in October. This hotfix also addresses the following issues on computers that have multiple processors that support processor performance states: • Possible decrease in performance on single-threaded workloads when processor performance states are using demand-based switching. • Makes sure that synchronization of the processor Time Stamp Counter (TSC) registers across processors if the processor TSC uses the ACPI Power Management timer. • Corrects ACPI C-state promotion and demotion issues in the kernel power manager. Right from Microsoft "Computers that are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 and that are equipped with multiple processors that support processor power management features may experience decreased performance" ...to add to the game list. Battle Field 2 fixed this issue with the v1.03 Patch
  5. I was having issues with my AMD x2 3800+ and gaming where I had to set my affinity every time I started a game. I came across this utility, ImageCFG.exe, that is available online or via the Microsoft resource kit. Instructions on how to use

  9. VALVE UNVEILS 64-BIT SOURCE™ GAMING TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPED IN CONJUNCTION WITH AMD "Bringing the Source technology to the AMD64 processor platform is an important step in the evolution of our game content and tools," said Gabe Newell, Valve’s co-founder and president. "This investment in future processing will allow us, and third party developers working with Source, to push the boundaries of the gaming experience."
  10. Dude I am looking at rolling up with six as my magic number, in order to get the uber micro on. We got plenty of room so if you want to carry 2 CRTs in I do not think a single preson would have an issue with it.
  11. You sent me this on the 22nd at work, I told ya I downloaded and installed them on the 21st the day they were release and that you were alittle late on telling me. Damn stop making stuff up. I was just pointing out that you are slacking dude on your drivers and patches news.

Is that the color of an AssRock?
  13. "Ten days ago, ATI had the worst video quality on the PC. With this new driver, ATI has jumped to the top of the class and then built a nice lead. " "ATI now surpasses anything that we've seen on the PC with the best implementation of diagonal filtering we’ve seen yet. When it comes to unusual cadence detection, ATI AVIVO has no peer in its price range."
  14. Serious Sam 2 v2.066 Patch Description: Changes in 2.066.00 patch: Added dedicated server support (see DedicatedServer.txt in the patch). Vertical slider next to some lists (e.g. server list) now reacts to mouse clicks and movement. Server list can now be properly used with the mouse. Fixed scrolling of some lists (levels, profiles). Swapped function of up/down arrows in some menu screens. Options boxes (yes/no and similar) now cycle options - selecting the last option and going to the 'next' one will go back to the first option and vice versa. Netricsa icon will no longer appear if subtitles are turned off. Playing with high ping time (>500ms) caused strange things to happen for clients (dying immediately after respawning, being unable to turn off cheats...). Difficulty setting wasn't properly restored when loading a saved game. Match details menu screen now displays the server version. It will be displayed in RED if the servers version doesn't match the clients. Version number in the main menu is now more visible. Added a beep sound when a new line appears in the chat console. Added support for resolutions with strange aspect ratio (namely, 1280x1024). In cooperative games, info for all players (name, health, armor) is displayed on the right part of the screen. Added an option to profile settings ("always pick up items") to disable picking items when not needed (e.g. ammo if already at max ammo). Servers can now be password protected via the 'net_strConnectPassword' cvar. To join a password protected server, the client mus set the password string to 'net_strConnectPassword' cvar. Added the 'samListPlayers()' console command to list all players in format 'playerindex: playername'. Bloom effect now works properly in HDR mode on ATI X1000 series boards (no more pixelization). Added controling compatibility mode for DirectSound mixing ("software emulation" in "audio options" menu). Fixed problem with sound playback and mouse input on multi-(core-)CPU systems. Fixed wrong performance detection on Intel integrated graphics chips. Fixed wrong profiler timings under dual-core CPUs. When toggling HDR mode while using FSAA, cfunc 'gfxRestart()' is now required. Weapon can't be changed while recoiling. Added message for recently picked items. Game can't be quick loaded in multiplayer. Fixed jerky movie playback on slower CPUs. Added option to automatically quit the game after demo benchmarking is finished (cvar 'bmk_bAutoQuit=1', best to use it as command line param, "+bmk_bAutoQuit 1").
  15. Not by you! As I know you are to poor to have a 7800Gtx and a FX CPU. I would also like to see a link posted back to 3dmarks stats site before I believe it. I know and I also only post scores on configs I run daily, the 6832 score for 3dmark05 is with the current settings I run all the games I currently play.
  16. I got a x2 3800+ Retail Box (used) and ECS Motherboard (new) for sale if anyone is intereseted. I have all warranty, packing materials and heatsink/fan for the CPU. Will take $340 for it all or make offer. $340 firm if payment via paypal.
  17. Oh then you are going to hate this. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1558141 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4471876 I want to stop, but OCin' and 3DMark is just to addicting. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
  18. OC'd alittle but do not think I can push more then maybe another 100 out of it. Still running stable though.
  19. I don't know can you? Never seen anyone having a use to run dual's for a LAN. Just curious what game(s) you are using duals for now? Think you need to answer that question yourself!
  20. Yeah that was a late one/early but Serious Sam 2 is pretty kewl, Bob your system running ok now, wish you could have gotten some time on SS2 though.
  21. The new Cats gave me a decent push but still not enuff to get into the 7000's 3d Mark03 -- 13781 3dMark05 - 6630 Catalyst® Release Note Version 5.12 I would not expect the same results from non dual core systems as these drivers were optimized for x2 CPUs. Performance Improvements Catalyst 5.12 improves a variety of CPU-bound performance cases when an ATI product is installed in conjunction with a dual-core or hyperthreading CPU. Performance gains include: 3DMark05 gains as much as 5.7% 3DMark03 gains as much as 3.3% 3DMark2001 SE gains up to 10% Aquamark 3 gains up to 16% Comanche 4 improves as much as 20% Far Cry gains as much as 25% on some product configurations Half-Life 2 performance improves as much as 8% Splinter Cell improves as much as 8% in certain parts of the game Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness runs as much as 10% faster Unreal Tournament 2004 framerates improve as much as 10%
