  1. So maybe you want to give A.V.A (Alliance of Valiant Arms) a try? First you'll want to head over to the website (http://ava.ijji.com/index.nhn). Now you have three basic things to do. ONE Now that you are at the website you'll want to go ahead and start downloading the game. It's over 1GB, and even though DL speeds are pretty swift, it'll take you 20 minutes to an hour. Start by clicking this link. Find the A.V.A download list. I don't recommend the first one because it stopped on me at 94%. Once you get that downloaded you'll want to run the install. TWO Now you'll want to download the Reactor Software. Go to the same download page, which you selected a server to downloaded A.V.A from, and scroll to the bottom. This is basically ijji's Steam-like program which is used to launch all their games. You'll need it to play A.V.A. THREE Now you'll want to make an ijji Account. If you get this on your first time then you've set a record. It's both picky and tedious in how it wants everything. After you fill out all the info, it'll send you an email to verify the account. You must verify it in order to play. I recommend using GMAIL; it seems to receive the fastest. GAME-TIME Once you've installed the ijji Reactor and created the account, launch the Reactor. You'll use the account information that you made previously. No need for secure logins unless you are on a computer that is not yours. Find and click the A.V.A button. Once you've installed the game you'll click Game Start to launch. The first run you'll have to wait 15-30 minutes for updates. You wont have to do this often. From here on, message one of us in X-Fire. If you can't find me, add the username Houndf, and I'll help you get everything going hereon out. We'll help you get everything setup and show you the ropes. Frag-on!
  2. http://ava.ijji.com/? This game is pretty darn cool. It's a FREE FPS where you can level up to get betting gear or just pay them money to get the gear sooner. The graphics are great, hit detection is on point, plenty of servers and clan matches. Played it for about 2 hours today w/ my =SF= buddies and we did pretty darn good in the clan vs clan matches. it's ijji so the install is a bit odd, but that's to be expected w/ ijji. I recommend that everyone at least download it and try it out. it's free and a darn good FPS that can be played at lan events by everyone.
  3. just played it for about 20 min, and I liked it. yep worth $9.99
  4. ok why did the trailer only show 0.5 seconds of actual game play.... that makes me wonder...
  5. Breaking in the new Laptop at the LAN was great! Best purchase I have made in a long time!
  6. after careful review of all the information, I went with http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.t...es&top=true I looked at the best price/performance and anything better than this that had a significant upgrade was at least $400 more. The ASUS linked earlier was really nice but for the $200 difference I didn't see it, and for $200 I can get a nice case, thumb drive, expedited shipping, and more. Plus the insurance was on sale for this as well (25% off) which widened the gap even more to roughly $300+ hey perhaps it will arrive in time for Saturday's LAN!
  7. plus w/ the 1.6ghz i7 it's turbo up get's it to 2.8ghz when it needs the extra boost automatically.
  8. yeah I have a couple nice LCD's already, and I guess I'm trying to get used to the names of all these different video cards for laptops. I am an ATI man but it seems that many laptops are using NVIDA. I was just going for a higher number thinking 360 is better than 260.... but clearly that's not the case. I'm trying to find a grid for NVIDA laptop graphics cards so I can make a better choice.
  9. after reviewing cost/benefit ratio, I'm probably going to go with this http://www.superwarehouse.com/Toshiba_Qosm...1H01M/p/1572194
  10. yeah that's nice but I think I want the full 18.4 inches just to show that I have a big johnson...
  11. This is shinny http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834114804 and I am leaning toward getting it rather than building a lan box.... This would mean I could use it for gaming and for when I go for my MBA/Masters... while sippin on a cup of joe at spot coffee.... My little netbook is dying slowly.
  12. I'm wondering what the next hot ati card will be this spring/summer
  13. I ended up lapping both my Q6600 and my Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme over a year ago. It took me about 3.5 hours total and I went through 220, 400, 800, 1000, 1500 grits on both of them. It was crazy how warped my heatsink was and my Q6600 was a mountain range with a surrounding moat... Running at 3.0 ghz Before Lapping: Idle Load 43c 69c 40c 63c 43c 69c 39c 63c After Lapping both Q6600 + Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Idle Load 42c 62c 38c 58c 42c 62c 37c 58c
  14. Here we can link the avatars/call signs to R/L names and make it easier for newer people to get to know everyone better, and for us older timers to just make fun of everyone else. Post your pics, your rigs, your cat, what ever. Keep it clean if you can and have some fun!
  15. 12:30am... just walked in the door from my Frat meeting and yeah I don't think I'm going to pack up my computer and get there now lol
  16. I just slept for 13 hours... I need a laptop, I sure as hell don't feel like ripping my computer apart and putting it in my car.
  17. How late do you think it will go on till? I have something from 7-9pm that I have to go to and I'm wondering if I should leave and come back or just pack up at 6pm.
  18. That is balls.... They could have been fried if that's a real pic.
  19. I'm driving the S2000 right now so as long as there isn't any snow I'll be there. The BMW needs some work and I probably won't have it back by then. I take a CFP exam on the 8th so I won't have anything to study the very next day! :-)
  20. xmas party that night but I should be good for about 4 hours or so during the day.
