  1. ****hack cough cough weeeeezzzz waves dust away from face*****8 My XFire is "dapoets"!!!!! anyone surprised? I'm at work so I can't post a profile... If you add me, please put in your comments that you are WNY Gamers because I seem to be getting add a friend spam....
  2. oh... I still can't edit... bah.. lol edit: woot I can edit now!! lol
  3. Man anytime I see 6600 I think Q6600 since that's all I have been reading about... I have no idea what the temps are on a dual core 6600 but my quad core Q6600 will always run hotter apples to apples. Have you checked intel's site for what your recomended maximum safe running temps are? for the Q6600 B3 stepping it's 62.2°c when using full 105w of power. So when I'm running prime95 I try to make sure my load temps are around that... FSB, Voltage, Ambient air temps... take all of them into account, put on a white jacket w/ a pocket protector and you will feel like a scientist creating a scale based on Speed to Temperature output lol
  4. nice... then I'll pick up the 2nd card sooner than later... gotta put on a new roof....
  5. To prevent a runaway thread I'm dusting this one off.... w/ my current config the highest score I can get so far is 6059... I understand that the sapphire x1950pro 512meg PCIe isn't a top of the line card but it's up there... does 3dmark06 take into consideration crossfire? I will get a 2nd card soon.... Also w/ crossfire can you run two monitors at the same time like I am doing w/ just one x1950pro? I think someone answered this for me before but I was a bit confused on the answer... I dropped my ram from 5-5-5-18 down to 4-4-4-12 and saw a bit of an increase while it's running at 333mhz/667 to keep it 1:1 since I am overclocking from 2.4ghz up to 3.2ghz right now. I haven't fully tested 3.2ghz but 3.1ghz is rock stable.
  6. I like how it looks but I only tend to play multi-player games...
  7. After some tweaking I am up to 6059...
  8. Silly me.... I was just told that my benchmark is low because I ran my benchmarks while I was still in my dual screen mode... I have to revert back to just one monitor and then run 3dmark06.... makes sense I guess
  9. yeah I saw that and wanted to know more about the game play...
  10. Yeah my 3dmark06 score is low and I have been trying to analyze my system to determine where I am going wrong. I am thinking that it's my ram, it is very cheap ram even though it's pc2-6400 but I bought it over a month ago for only $88 (2 gigs). The ram I do have overclocked a bit but I can only get it to run at about 900mhz before the system doesn't boot. I'm going to run lots of stress tests over the next few days and then re-run 3dmark06.
  11. I ended up lapping both my Q6600 and my Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme tonight... yeah I'm tired... It took me about 3.5 hours total and I went through 220, 400, 800, 1000, 1500 grits on both of them. It was crazy how warped my heatsink was and my Q6600 was a mountain range with a surrounding moat... Running at 3.0 ghz Before Lapping: Idle Load 43c 69c 40c 63c 43c 69c 39c 63c After Lapping both Q6600 + Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Idle Load 42c 62c 38c 58c 42c 62c 37c 58c I'm now running Prime95 at 3.1ghz for as long as I can or 24 hours, which ever comes 1st. Memtest went fine for 30 min then I cut it off. I'll test w/ memtest again when I hit a wall on the ghz.
  12. did you ever get that 2nd x1950pro and then benchmark it? I have th x1950pro 512meg and my 3dmark06 is at 5996... I'm not happy w/ that at all....
  13. I want to make this but All I have is BF2... if FEAR is a free download I guess I can get that and try it out.
  14. hmmm I may have to check this out... Q6600 running at 3.2ghz stable right now.
  15. I joined the WCG team. WNY Gamers WCG
  16. oh by the way is your Q6600 a (G0) or (B3) stepping... the temps have a different range...
  17. run Prime95 and see what temps you get. running at 3.2ghz is easy but you have to run Prime95 to stress test to see if you have your settings right. 6 hours is the norm to determine if you have a good overclock going. I tend to run it for about 5 min and if it's ok then I bump up the speed a notch and run again. When I hit an OC that creates an error right away in Prime95, then I adjust some settings in the Bios until the error doesn't come up right away then I let Prime95 run for as long as it can until I get an error. I run at 3.2ghz for about 2 - 4 hours w/ out an error and I'm fine w/ that. At full load my Q6600 (B3) is at 58c - 61c. Idol it's at 38c - 43c. Go here for pics on my rig: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=525690
  18. yeah I would only need 1 gig of that then... would you sell just 1 gig?
  19. Below my sig I just see "Top, Report, Quote, Reply"... Yeah I just added a 2nd fan to my Ultra 120 extreme for a push pull effect now. For me I like the setup and here are the pics of my box. I just need more ram now... coughPursuitcough
  20. Coleco Vision for the win! The only Atari I messed w/ was the Atari XE
  21. Bah... can't go back and edit my post.... But anyway for my overclocked system to reach 3.2ghz at a nice low temp, I have my Q6600 settings at 356x9 w/ my DDR2 PC6400 ram downgraded to 533mhz so that I'm at a 1:1 ratio. I probably don't need to get another set of PC6400 ram which is 800mhz when I would just bring it down to 533mhz anyway... And my timings are all set at 4-4-4-18 as well.
