The company will also offer a “4850 256MB” (as opposed to 512 MB in other versions), but this SKU is a so-called "option" and is geared towards to the OEM/ODM/SI crowd to support them with cheaper parts for the back-to-school period and beyond."

  10. Japanese Internet Satellite Hits 1.2Gbps "The tests were carried out on May 2 as part of verification of the Kizuna satellite. In the tests data was transmitted on two 622M-bps channels both up to the satellite and down to a receiving antenna. Together the combined data transmission speed was 1.2G bps. Tests carried out in March and April verified uplink communications at 1.5M bps and downlink at 155M bps using a compact 45-centimeter antenna and both up and downstream at 155M bps using a larger 1.2-meter dish. At the time JAXA said the 155M-bps downlink was the fastest in the world achieved with such a small-size antenna."
  11. Creative launches USB X-Fi "The USB sound card supports X-Fi Crystalizer, various CMSS-3D modes and EAX HD, which makes this a pretty high-end solution even compared to some of the cheaper PCI cards. As the product name suggests, there's support for 5.1-channel and this comes via three 3.5mm audio jacks. Furthermore, it has a 3.5mm jack for line-in and one for microphone input, as well as two RCA jacks for stereo audio out and an optical S/PDIF out for connecting to an external amplifier etc. At US$59.99 it's more affordable than the X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook for those looking at upgrading their notebook audio and it offers some additional features, but it's not quite as portable."
  12. Oddly enough, I have not gotten an Rice units yet.....
  13. AWESOME Tecboy!!! I should be there. TF2, CoD4 and CoH:OF
  14. His place is on hold, aleast for now, they have been moved out to my place in Hamburg. Gives him and his electric bill a chance to recover, when he gets out of Roswell. It looks like I'm finally out of the hospital this week. It will take several months for me to recover from the bone marrow transplant and all that goes with that. I might be ready after MasssiveLAN (think August/Sept) to host a LAN again, but there are bunch of variables, so we will have to wait and see.
  15. ASUS Creates Upgradeable Graphics Cards "The vision of upgradeable graphic cards goes back to the late 1990s, when Micron Technology was experimenting with removable sockets. In 2006, both MSI and Gigabyte showcased upgradeable graphic cards, but their concepts, which were based on GeForce Go MXM boards, never took off. Earlier this year, Asus introduced a single board with three MXM slots for ATI Mobility Radeon 3850 or 3870 cards (upgradeable with future parts), and has now unveiled its single-MXM product."
  16. Very Cool!!! I think I might finally be out this week, so I can get my TF2 on....

  20. Microsoft orders 65nm Xbox 360 graphics chip "The original 360 has a 90nm GPU and a 90nm CPU. Last year, console based on the 'Falcon' platform incorporated the 65nm CPU. With the debut of Jasper and its 65nm GPU, the over-heating problems - manifested most clearly in the infamous Red Ring of Death - that have plagued no small number of Xbox 360 owners will evaporate."
  21. Sounds nice for a MMO. I'll have to see it eventually, as I don't know if PerFectioN will switch or not. I suspect not thou. (Yeah, the 3870's nutty cheap now)
  22. Task switching was the sole reason I went from 2gb to 3gb. I know if I went from XP to Vista, I'd have to have 4gb to get the same experience.
