  1. Since I'm running a Barton 3200+ (2.2GHz) right now, it seems kinda silly to go to a Sempron 3000+ (1.8GHz) CPU...they're both single-core CPU's, and I'm running a 32-bit OS....definitely not going to see a performance boost out of it....
  2. Socket 939....just found his old "for sale" thread...
  3. I'm getting PurSuiT's old gear. ABit mobo, x850, and Sempron 3000+. Though he still hasn't told me what socket type it is so I can start looking for a better processor...lol
  4. Well, it was the lower-end 9800, but with a firmware upgrade, became the 9800XT. I'm moving to a PCIe board, and can't transfer the 9800 over....makes it difficult to keep the card around in the future rig.
  5. Why is that? How about going to an x850?
  6. That limits you to just a socket 939 Athlon64 m/b. $200 is kinda low for a new m/b, cpu and video card. (Hence why your asking to see if anyone has parts hanging out they are not in need of.) I don't have anything like that unused unfortunately, by maybe I'll surf thru newegg later today. Yea, that's why I'm asking here. I found a mobo/CPU combo on newegg for 109 shipped. Sempron 3200+ with Gigabyte board. X1550 for 70.
  7. LOL Good point...Here's what I've got currently: Athalon Barton 3200+ 2GB DDR400 (Which I would really like to keep using in the new board) Gigabyte VT600 board Radeon 9800XT (AGP) SATA & ATA drives So, what I'm looking to do is get a mobo that uses DDR400 RAM and has a PCIe graphics slot. Like I said before, baby steps. I need to upgrade, but I can't afford $400 for a new system yet. I'm kinda aiming for the $200 range...
  8. Finally! Though I've got to do it in baby steps.... I've got my drives and PSU (though I'll be in the market for one of those, too), but what I'm in need of is a mobo, CPU, and video card. Anyone have anything decent sitting around in their spare parts piles?
  9. $14.99....about the same as every other game out there.... If you want an online RPG that doesn't charge, the only decent one I've known would be Guild Wars....don't know anyone that plays it any more, though.
  10. Any particular game that you're refering to? Shaggy and I have recently taken on Vanguard. Seems pretty good. I'm enjoying it, and we're trying to get more people into it.
  11. I'm gonna have it at our LAN, so we'll see what happens. If all goes well, we're gonna put it on the play list for March.
  12. Sorry about that, guys. I really hate it when we conflict on our LAN dates...means that we can't come to yours and you can't come to ours. B.Ob. has been a Frag Shack regular for a few months, but since the past two LANs have been on the same day....well, you know... We'll work on this for March and see where we can go from there. Have to make sure that March 10th is NOT on the Frag Shack voting list! It's great when you guys come to our LANs. I enjoy coming over to yours, too, I just can't do too much gaming during each month due to my lack of time....two part-time jobs, a full-time job, 2 kids every other weekend, and a girlfriend in Canada don't help with the scheduling much...
  13. Unfortunately, the polls are closed, and the winning vote interferes once again with the WNY LAN.... The next Frag Shack monthly LAN will be on Saturday, February 10th at 3pm. Bring your computers, $5 for food, and your A Game!
  14. My current system is a Barton 3200+ on a PoS Gigabyte board, 1GB of unmatched DDR400 RAM, and a 9800XT. The game runs great on it. I don't meet the recommended specs, but I meet the minimum, and it's fine. Slight lag in the city or over-populated areas, but then again, Shaggy's computer does exactly the same thing, and his machine actually DOES meet the recommended specs. So I don't think I'm doing that bad.... Yes, there's a monthly fee. While I loved the fact that Guild Wars didn't have that subscription, I didn't know anyone that actually played it, and as you said, it's much better with friends.... Most of the quests can be done solo so far. I've gotten my monk up to level 8, and it's mostly from doing the numerous quests and tasks. Very good crafting system, too. They've made it so you can't macro craft, which will keep the market in good standing without flooding it with too much crap. All-in-all I'm having a pretty good time with it.
  15. Shaggy and I just started playing Vanguard. It releases tomorrow, but since we pre-ordered, we are allowed to log in and start playing before anyone else. VERY EQ-esque....a lot of things look and feel like EQ/EQ2. Questing is much better than WoW. Journal/personal stats/spellbook are a lot like WoW, too. I would say that the best feature of the game so far is that it's not cartoon-ish like WoW is. It looks a lot like EQ and Dark Age of Camelot. Graphics can use a bit of work, but that's about what we would expect from a new MMO. New GFX engines will come out for the game with future releases, just as they did with EQ and Dark Age. Characters creation is so-so, but the character content (i.e. Spec's and Stats) are so vast that you can literally have a group of 8 Paladins that are all very different from each other and play different roles in the group. Pretty amazing, really.
  16. I wish my car would transform to some other color....I hate metallic raspberry...
  17. Yea, I got a good laugh out of that one, too....
  18. I saw something online that showed some silly computer geeks using 4 1GB sticks in a USB hub and they striped them (RAID0) together....why not just buy a bigger hard drive?
  19. Sorry for the inconvenience, everyone, but we've had to redo the February poll on the Frag Shack forum due to some conflicts. Please vote again at your earliest convenience. Thanks, Buckett
  20. The polls are open on the Frag Shack Forum, so cast your vote now! www.ShaggysFragShack.com
  21. Due to my recent divorce, I've been short on funds....and I expect to be rather short on funds for another 20 years or so....but I'm using a 9800XT, which seems to run everything great. I was recently pricing out parts for a new machine, and from what I can see, I'm thinking about the x1800 for my future box, though as I said, it's gonna be a while, so my mind is very far from being made up on it....
  22. Sucks that I couldn't be there...I've got the kids this weekend... With any luck, I'll be there for the next one, though!
  23. I had two Epox boards that I absolutely loved! Never had a problem with em til the caps went, but I repaired it myself for about $2 and the local Radio Shack...
  24. The 100x faster statement refers to the IOPS, which normal ATA drives get about 650+
